What are the chances of fungal pops? Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Anyone know how to work out the chance of a fungal pop for each unit of ecodamage?

The ecodamage number is the percentage chance on each turn that you'll get a pop. SMAC manual, page 54.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I could've sworn I had a base with over 100 damage that didn't get a pop.

Does the manual say anything about a cap or maximum? Is 100 or more damage a 100% chance of a pop?

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

With over 100 ecodamage I get regular pops every turn. That brings the clean minerals down in the long run, but at the risk of...

Well blow me down; I never noticed that. Thank you Petek.

I'm still not sure that conforms with my empriical notions, but it is definitely spelled out right there. I had been thinking that it may strike only the faction with the highest ED each turn, but have never tried to verify that theory.

Thanks for that, although it's on pages 58 and 44 in my manual. Maybe the Planetary Pack manual is slightly different.

Perhaps it's too long since I last read the manual.

My source was the printed manual that came with the original SMAC. Past discussions on this board suggest that there are various manuals with different paginations.
