In this time of war and hardships, I think we should advertise the DG on the main news page at http://www.apolyton.net/civ3
Here is the text I suggest to send to Markos and DanQ, who are always hungry for news to put on the main page:
quote: Civ3 Democracy Game: To Arms!
The Civ3 Democracy Game enters the most uncertain period of its history, which is also the most open for opportunities.
Indeed, our Vikings have now built an army of Berzerkers, and we are now going to war against our Spanish neighbours. We will have to fight against an enemy with a vastly superior technology, and a vastly superior economy.
The situation is difficult. The game is at deity level, and we have a rather small territory, a quite bad infrastructure, and a terrible technological gap to fill. As we are trying to invent caravels, some of our neighbours have already built a fabulous wonder such as the Hoover Dam!
However, there are opportunities for us to seize. Our Berzerkers are powerful and lust of Spanish blood. We have just entered our Golden Age, and our civilians are more motivated than ever in keeping up with the war effort. And the Spanish do not seem prepared for our onslaught.
Will we be able to overcome these hardships? Will we manage to change the balance in our favor? Will we enter the Valhalla as any berzerker should, or will we rather triumph on this Earth?
This will be decided in the coming turns of the Civ3 Democracy Game. Everybody is welcome to apply, to help us, and look for ways to triumph of the adversity! |
What do you think of this? Should I change the text a bit, add something I forgot? Or is such a text sufficient for being published?

Here's a draft mix of mine and Spiffor's:
Civ3 Democracy Game: To Arms!
The next 20 turns will be crucial in deciding how the Vikings will leave their mark on the world, a map custom made by Civ3 and Democracy Game veterans Togas and BigFurryMonster to provide a unique set of challenges for us.
Furthermore, we have a cause for celebration upon us. Viking Lords have come and gone over the centuries, in 4 great ruling periods. In the year 30 AD however, a truly legendary Leader emerged, one who made an extraordinary promise to lead the Viking people for over 1000 years. Now Viking Leader Paddy the Scot and his War Cabinet are on the brink of achieving this aim.
We invite all Viking Senators to join in the wild beverage-enhanced celebrations of a millennium of Paddy’s reign, and then rush off in a bloodlust to attack our timid neighbours as all good Norsemen should. Check this thread for information on when the 1000th turn of Paddy’s reign will commence.
Will we be able to overcome our hardships? Will we manage to change the balance in our favor? Will we enter the Valhalla as any berzerker should, or will we rather triumph on this Earth?
This will be decided in the coming turns of the Civ3 Democracy Game. Everybody is welcome to apply, to help us, and look for ways to triumph of the adversity!
