	Check this out!!! Weird Files in Alpha Centauri Folder... Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Last night, I was looking through the Alpha Centauri Folder, and I came across a couple weird files. Three, to be exact:

Name of Files: iface, newicons

Appear to be graphic files of something. Resemble the Nutrients, Minerals, and Energy symbols on resource screen, but slightly different. Possibly Color Blind Palette? No, that can't be right.

Name of File: flavor

Very interesting. Includes sizes and crew sizes of all the chasises, as well as details to the weapons, shields, and special abilities. Check it out!!!


These are some pretty weird files. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Well there are bits in several threads, including all graphics sets, unused text in script for expelled abbilities, techs that didnt make it to the end of game (like Inertial Dampening), original faction ideas and so. If I had time, I would post some links to them. Do a search, or wait for someone else to give links to these posts. Anyway welcome Commy to Apolyton!

All the things you mentioned, obstructor, I have noticed to. In fact, I would have posted them, but when this thread got turned down, I decided everyone would just laugh at me again. You don't know where I could find that thing on Intertial Dampening and Global Energy Theory, do you? Or, you could also just tell me how to search, although I probably shouldn't have asked that, because it's probably to obvious. Story of my life...

The techs you mentioned can be find in the respective folders:

- the pic in folder 'techs'
- the narration in folder 'voices'

I don't know out of my head which one are they. tech 11 and mid 70ties I think.

Also, they're 2 .wav files somewhere (that old section Obstructor mentions) which are an alternative for 2 existing techs, but since I couldn't change those to .MP3, wasn't able to use them before.



So, if anyone can change .wav to .mp3, let me know, I got a small job for you then

Also, Commy, if you have a topic you wanted to bring up, you could do a search to see if there's already a thread on it. Then you can read it and if you have anything to add, do so.

However this doesn't guartnee that you won't be mocked. I revived an old thread which happened to be exactly a year old that day. The person who started the thread was like why are you bringing up the old thread, yadda yadda, nobody has been posting in it, yadda yadda.

Sure enough, the thread was expanded over next few days . That's forums for you I suppose.

Thanks guys, but perhaps you misunderstood me. I maybe I didn't make myself clear. When I said that I wanted to see where Intertial Dampening was, I meant where the thread is was discussed in is. Not where it is in the Firaxis folder. Me and my friend already found that as well as the coordinating sound files.

But, Obstructor, thanks a lot. I didn't see all those other sound files. I wonder what happended. Perhaps the designers got to lazy. Maybe I should ask firaxis, or would they just ignore my e-mail like all the other technical help questions I asked.

But obstructor, do you know how to search that thread. I'd like to know what all the extra stuff is for, maybe someone knows, since a lot of people knew about Brian Reynolds getting a company transfer and Sid Meier possibly quitting.

Look for a programe called MediaMonkey. It's free or atleast has a free version and can convert sound formats. Specifically it can do mp3<->wav.

Woah.... I always do it with Creative Labs program... lets you listen while recording... or makes you, depending on your point of view... But it gets around little things like license files....
