I was playing last night, and I created a controlled environment on the scenario editor. I made a base with like 40 sky hydroponics and the Cloning Vats. All squares around the base were rainy (used condensors) and had farms, soil enrichers, and bonus nutrient resources. It eventually got to population 129 with a hab dome. Then, the population started to decrease, once each turn!!! However, I couldn't work any of the squares, and there were no citizens in the base screen either. Very strange. Then, the population decreased all the way to zero, and then the game froze. Same results twice. Try it out. Its really weird.

I don't know, Jam. I heard that, too. It is in one of the Readme files. I have Crossfire as well as the latest updates. I have tried this many times with different conditions, and every time, same result. May be my computer, but I doubt it, my friend has a similiar problem. However, since you probably can only get that high in pop under controlled conditions, I doubt it will ever really be a problem.

The problem with growing a big population is that the game won't last 100 turns after you build the vats.
Who wants to plow through 100 turns of "Eternity lies ahead of us ..." just to end the game with really big bases?
