To find the Northwest Passage

Way to go Flames. Iginla's the man.
The Canucks played great. I didn't think they had much a chance without Bertuzzi and when Coultier went out, I thought it was all over. But the Canucks battled hard in taking it to seven.
A hard loss for Vancouver, but they got to be proud of what their team did given the injuries.

Too much time on my hands, and you'll see why I'm not giving up my day job.
With apologies to Janis,
Oh lord, won’t you let the Leafs
Win this game today
Keep our shots all on goal,
Make the bounces go our way
We’ll be ever so thankful,
and won’t gloat too much
Oh lord, won’t you let the Leafs
Win this game today.
Oh lord, won’t you help the Leafs
Get to the next round,
Give Sundin new ankles
So he can skate around.
The other team is evil,
Don’t let them give us grief
Oh lord, won’t you help the Leafs
Get thru to the next round
Oh lord, won’t you help the Leafs
Win the Stanley Cup
We’ve been waiting for decades
And still haven’t given up
Prove that you love us,
We’re not asking for much
Oh lord, won’t you help the Leafs
Win the Stanley Cup

Congrats to the Flames, who played hard.
I held out hope for my Canuckle-heads, but the truth is that their offensive was very inconsistent all year (triggered, I think, by Bert's new contract) and often disappearing against teams they should beat, on the basis of overall talent.
The veteran leadership of Linden and Keane is the only reason they came back to win the division, and stayed in the Calgary series this long.
Sadly, we can't even say "Next year!", because of the labour BS, Bert's condition, and the now questionable goalie situation (Three 30-win seasons isn't enough to save Cloutier, methinks.)
Anyways, hats off to Calgary - enjoy getting stomped by Detroit.

Congrats to Calgary - a series well played. Iginla was awesome, and Kiprusoff was the difference. I still don't think Vancouver played nearly as well as they could, but in the end they lost, and that's all that matters. Good luck to the Flames, although I really don't think they stand much of a chance against Detroit.

You mean Belfour can do it. If it wasn't for him and him alone, Ottawa would have won in five. Easily.

Too bad Montreal advanced, I was kind of waiting for Koivu to get in our team for the WC........ well you can't have everything. |
On the bright side, Team Canada just picked up Scott Niedermayer (NJ) and Brenden Morrow (DAL).
They, plus a plethora of young talent (Heatley, Nash, Bouwmeester) and, you guessed it, OILERS (Ryan Smyth, Steve Staios, Shawn Horcoff, Eric Brewer), and Luongo in net...
Should be a good world championship!

Well done to the Canucks; what a damn run for our money that was. 17th avenus Calgary went *ing WILD - you could hear the blaring horns and see the window flags down at 8th ave, as well
Now, Toronto-Calgary cup would be a dream. Round 2!

Well, Detroit did really pick it up against Nashville in those last two games, but it ain't over 'til its over. The Flames'll be riding high, and the may just have the grit to take down Detroit in a long series.
Should be fun.

Calgary is more than riding high. F* the Wings, they have it coming
you know who we need next year; Fleury. Keep Iggy as Captain.. don't even give Fleury the A - but just get him back for one last chance for all the years he stuck out with this post cup struggling team
The 89 set was simply magic.. Gilmour, Roberts, Vernon, Fleury, McInnis, McDonald. Let's get the last possible/functional piece of that combo back home
