Beta has a point. Standard size would make for a more interesting start. Also, the game settings (corruption/waste) render most of the cities you can build on the extra space useless.
Nevertheless it sounds like a fun game, and even though games with more than 5 participants tend to slow severely down, I don't think this is a threat for you, bunch of enthusiasts that you are. Have a nice game.
Some day, when I can bear this game again, I'd like to play a game with modified rules. Every player starts with ~10 settlers, no more settlers can be built (but workers can). No settling on tundra, desert, mountains (duh!), jungle and forest. Cutting down jungle and forest impossible. Mountains are impassable (mountain resources moved to hills). World age 3 billion years (makes for awesome big mountain ranges). Large, hand crafted map with made up passes through the mountains, later resources (other than iron and horses) moved far out of the settleable areas. Raging barbarians, which will come in masses out of the dark, if you're not monitoring it. Merciless fights for the resources. May be a nice backstory. Guess that might be fun, too.

Yes. Paddy started the game with the 1.22 patch.
Note that once you install the patch, all games you load "convert" to v1.22, and not everybody is ready to jump into this version. So you might have to do a dual install (as I did) to keep playing the other C3C games.

Sorry! I should have explained better: I am happy you used 1.22; I'd like every game to upgrade soon, and if some games start using the patch, sooner or later the others will change too.

I have had no problems with the installation. I used the new FULL patch 1.22, though.
