We can sign peace treaty with Egypt and get Astronomy for 271 gold and our territory map. not recommended - we should try to take Pithom first and sign peace treaties after this. I guess this will drop the price.

We can sign peace treaty with the Aztecs and take all their 71 gold and their World Map. strongly recommended

Our deal with England is about to expire (we are selling gems to them)

We can try to trade our World map to the rest of the world to get some gold. I doubt it will be much but it will help improve our reputation and their gratitude towards us
The deals should be made in the following order:
first trade for the TM (or WM if they want) to all who have no gold - Greece, Japan, Spain, Celts and France.
After this we should try to get as much as possible from the others. Maybe we can get their maps too and thus get more gold from the others but I don't think the profit will be so great to bother with this.

Did you notice that Japan who was as backward as us are already in the Industrial Age?

More possible trades:
Trade with Rome gems for ivory. But we have to give them something more - WM and 7 gpt or WM and 115 gold. I guess our World will get more valuable after the trades with the others and we will have to pay les gold

About the Egypt deal - I think it is good enough but if we succeed take Phatom we will have one more city and they will drop the price more. Also our World map will be more valuable and we could pay less gold too.

I have to agree with GK, the best we could do now is just use our streangth to survive. We can't beat Mech inf with Bezerkers

That's right, Elite Berskers would have trouble beating a Mech Inf bombarded down to 1 HP.

And even if we aquire the UN we probably couldn't get elected either.

Guess we don't have a realistic shot at Cultural Victory (either one city or empire wide) either.

With them having Computers, we can probably rule out both Space Ship victory and Histographic victory in 2050 as well unless we can get the leading powers to declare war on each other.

I suspect we'd have done better under conquests rules than PTW ones for the following reasons:

1. Less AI in communication with each other early on due to the delay from Writing to Printing Press.

2. AIs with better maps not being able to sell until Navigation and much larger protion of the maps expiring worthless to multiple players. [Because by then other AIs would indepently explore]

3. +1 naval movement & starting with the ability to build a Curragh very early on.

Map reasons:

1. We'd have done better with more rivers for increased revenue & science research.

2. OTOH, giving one AI a one city interior island was a definate mistake by the mapmakers and unlikely to be repeated.

That was intentional.

However, we had theorized (incorrectly) that the AI would, once they had MM, build a galley and get some settlers off that island.

I'm not so sure if that is 'incorrect'. Did the Aztecs ever learn to make maps ???

In one of the sims I ran before finalizing the map, they did get off their little island...
