Moving Lakeview - Case for this Full PM-box? Change here!

The location of Lakeview is o.k. for the moment, but in all reality, it needs to be moved. It’s current location was fine, up to this point, because of the need for the Furs and not having to use a worker to colonize it. When Lakeview was originally built, there was some discussion about a different location, but the need for the Furs, was too great and we couldn’t afford to use a worker for that colony.

But now, with the Palace moving soon and our cities due to grow soon, we actually need to reexamine this.

Reasons for moving:
- to reduce tile crowding on PoV, AP and site 21 tiles
- Better corruption/waste in the cities of PoV, Zeno and Site #21

My plan, is to get the city moved very shortly after AP’s borders expand, With the roads I already have in place, the city can be rebuilt on the same turn. I’ll be getting 1 more worker, then the Settler to move it with from it in that time frame.

Here are the options that I present to the Consuls and Senate:

Option #1: stay where it is. This would not be optimal, but we could work with it as it is.
Pros: sooner to be established with improvements, etc. Better corruption for this city.
Cons: heavier corruption in PoV, Zeno and Site #21. Less tiles that several cities will be able to work effectively.

this picture (and the others to follow) shows the rankings for corruption calculation purposes, the numbers show the ranks of all of the cities in this picture. The higher the ranking, the higher the corruption.
Lakeview is at Rank of 2. PoV, Zeno and Site #21 are all at a Rank of 5. Hero’s Summit is at a Rank of 8. Ranking sum for Palace core: 1-2-2-2-5-5-5-8-9-10-10-12 = 71

Option #2: move city 7 from current location. This would be best, and this place is my recommendation.
Pros: More tiles for PoV, Zeno and Site #21 to work. Good balance of land and coastal tiles. Best overall corruption for our core.
Cons: Time to move city.

Lakeview, PoV, Zeno and Site #21 are all now at the same Rank of 4. Hero’s Summit is still at a Rank of 8. All other remain the same. Ranking sum for Palace core: 1-2-2-4-4-4-4-8-9-10-10-12 = 70

Option #3: move city 7-7 from current location.
Pros: More Coastal tiles available with less land tiles to work. More tiles for PoV, Zeno and Site #21 to work. Better corruption for central core, but more overall corruption for the whole.
Cons: Time to move city. Requiring Harbor to allow city to grow more, less shields over time. Heavier corruption for Lakeview.

PoV, Zeno and Site #21 are all now at the same Rank of 4. Lakeview and Hero’s Summit are now at a Rank of 7. All others remain the same. Ranking sum for Palace core: 1-2-2-4-4-4-7-7-9-10-10-12 = 72

Again, I recommend Option #2.

After 3 days (or so) for discussion, I will post a poll on this matter.

Funny how this thread pops up after I suggest that we give CGN a city site north of Lakeview on the desert tile that #10 on E_T's map above

Way to try to sidestep the issue by making it impractical via a sudden decision to move one of our cities

Move the city, our ultimate economy is much more important than where we stick CGN.

Togas, if you will take the time to look at atleast last turn's orders thread, where I had changed the build for lakeveiw and had also inserted a note that I would post about it later. I had the same note inserted in this turn and the next turn. I did just recently edit the note to a link to this thread. Also, I had problems with my photoshop program, where these same pictures wouldn't display after uploading and I had to redo them. IIRC, you were in a chat, several days ago, when I was having problems with them and Kloreep was helping me.

I have been meaning to post this thread for about 1 week or more, but I have limited time and other priorities that had to be done first, before I could get back to the pictures and them finally making my post.

I'm sorry if you feel that I'm trying to obfuscate another issue with this, but that is not the case.

[EDIT] and if you read the post, you will see that the numbers are the RANKING of the particular cities, when it comes to the calculation of their corruption. It isn;t any desination (although I should have marked something, anyone can go to a turnthread report and see the cities names there....) [/edit]

Suffering from ads?

Actually, I agree with E_T on this one. Moving Lakeview to optimize our own economic conditions is important.

I'm in favor of giving CGN the city we are both best able to secure and which will be of minimal loss to us. Personally, I think a city in our West may be the best choice, most likely a city along the northern shore of the internal lake.

Got spare money?

Togas: moving Lakeview does not affect at all the site where we had planned to settle CGN (which would've been site "10" on the maps)

If we are to move this city, let's do it ASAP so we can get it running quickly.
