	No sound, Battle Mode Slow Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

just downloaded Moo 1 and installed it on my wife's Dell win 98.

I cant hear anything. I keep getting the "reconfigure" error. Apparently I'm not picking the right sound settings.

Also, the game moves intolerably slow when in battle mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need additional conventional memory to use sound. This can be a problem in DOS or Win9x.

Then you must run the reconfig and select the proper settings for for your sound card.

The only ones I have ever gotten to work is the SB orig. You need to check you cards emulation and see what the DMA and IRQ numbers being used are. It sems to not be a problem in XP as it emulates SB like the original settings.

In Win9x, I have have prolems wit true SB cards at times. Sound is working on my XP and my Win98SE boxes currently. XP has on board sound and the Win98 has SB of some flavor. I have gone through 5 or 6 so I forget. I think it is the Platinum 5.1 card with the remote control.
