sabrewolf, we didn't agree to follow any pbem rules, etiquette or anything like that, now did we?
however i do believe we all agree that we will not cheat. and coordinating attacks on the AI isn't really cheating now is it, as compared to how the AI will coordinate it's own attacks on your weakest spots for example.

yep, we didn't agree to any specific rules, just a "honourable play". and the PBEM tournament etiquette only recently got compiled.
the AI cheats are needed because of the AI weaknesses at seeing general weaknesses (like lack of resource, etc) and other stuff.
as long as you don't coordinate your research (wouldn't be fair, as i can't tell my AI civs what to research next), i don't have a problem

i have to disagree about that. i can see why you'd be against research pacts, since you don't have any human players near you. I'm sure then you can see why others would be for research pacts.
in other words I'm for allowing that kind of stuff. maybe we should hold a quick vote on allowing or dissalowing research pacts? I'll follow what the majority decides

this is really baaad
especially in PBEMs i'm organising, or trying to get rapid-fire sessions done, i'm getting a lot of posts... but even then, i can't get anywhere near 1000 in a quarter of a year
CM, i think paddy is even "worse" than you and has rushed to emperor as one of the fastest.

I was at king for over a year at least, no I dont bother with the demo games really, might have made about 20 posts in the civ3 demo game forum but that is all. to be honest Im not really interested in them.
My post count has increased dramatically since i got into PBEM in February this year. back then I was at about 1800 posts but as you will see from my profile its increased vastly since then.
It means very little to me, all this post count stuff, i really enjoy my PBEM'ing and thats it really. Im also very active in the civ3 stories section, being one of the most regular posters there, writing my own stories and giving support to others who post their stories there.
Before February Id never played a PBEM game before, and my only activity here at poly was in the stories section, but now I find most of my time is taken up by this PBEM obsession I have aquired |
the worst spamming is done in the democracy games. every active member is nearly immediately emperor. the apolyton community forum also seems to spawn quite a few deities and emperors... most posts not having a great value
post count isn't really so important for me, but seeing statistics of activity phases is quite intriguing
