Seriously, democracy will fail if this keeps up.
I think there should be 3 or more parties with equal power, equal chance at winning.
Republicans = 25%
Democrats = 25%
Independents = 25%
Greens = 25%
somethin like that
So we'd have more choices of candidates, rather than be stuck with two piss-poor candidates.

I did a bit of googling on the question of how one "earns" a purple heart, mostly because my grandfather received one for being shot in the ankle way back in the days of yore. I figured that he might be turning in his grave if he knew that somebody could get a purple heart for getting a paper cut. However, such is not the case, and he can continue his eternal slumber in peace.

(1) A Purple Heart is authorized for the first wound suffered under conditions indicated above, but for each subsequent award an Oak Leaf Cluster will be awarded to be worn on the medal or ribbon. Not more than one award will be made for more than one wound or injury received at the same instant or from the same missile, force, explosion, or agent.
(3) When contemplating an award of this decoration, the key issue that commanders must take into consideration is the degree to which the enemy caused the injury. The fact that the proposed recipient was participating in direct or indirect combat operations is a necessary prerequisite, but is not sole justification for award. |
In other words, paper cuts would probably not qualify one for the purple heart.

I think that you're confusing the Purple Heart with the Medal of Honor.

I thought Purple Hearts were the highest medal (just below the Congressional Medal of Honor)? I mean, I remember reading somewhere that Purple Hearts are one of the most respected medals to be given out.
