Treatise on the Formation of a Symbiotic Relationship with Planet
Part Three: The Threshold of Transcendence
By Dr. David Suzuki, Gaian Chief of Natural Sciences
The history of humanity has been at times a shining example of benevolent sentience in our Universe, showing Mother Nature that she was wise in bestowing upon us the gift of intelligence. At other times in history our species has plummed the very depths of intelligent beastiality, forcing ourselves to act as our own jury and condemn ourselves for horrible crimes.
Through it all though we as a species have continued to progress forward, sometimes striding confidently, at other times staggering or crawling, but always we have advanced our species, and our goals.
And to that end we have to ask ourselves if our ultimate goal of transcendence is reached, at what price will this be accomplished? For our history has shown very clearly that with every major advancement of the human species comes great upheaval. One need to look no further than the fossil record of Earth to see what has happened to the "Parent Race" each time our species has advanced. Where did Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Cro Magnon, the Neandertals, and all of those that came before us end up? They were the "Parent Races" which gave birth to successive advancements in humanity, only to themselves fade away as the superior took hold. If they had been aware of what was transpiring, would they have been proud of the "Offspring Race" they had given birth to, even as it was supplanting them? For this is truely the question we will soon face, as our species of Homo Sapiens will surely be aware of the next step in humanity as it takes root, and starts competing for the same resource as the race which birthed it. Will we look upon this new race, the "Transcends", with the pride of a parent, or will we challenge it with a feral veracity worthy of the animals we are descended from?

I posted my interest in the Gaian faction on the Rollcall forum. Darsnan and Obstructor have directed to post the same information here. If you're still counting, count me in.

I think its just a perspective issue here, Chaunk. If you changed your perspective to that of, say, the pilot, your opinion might change from your current perspective, which is currently in the crosshairs of the pilot.....

History is written by the victors my dear Darsnan! Should your nasty polluting, planet destroying planes win, then of course you'll say they were actually better for planet than if they'd never actually existed! However, you won't win, and hence history will remember you as you are, eco terrorists, causing more harm than good in your "cause".
