Howdy all, seeing as how i'm taking a class all about War and Diplomacy in 19th century Europe i'm rather interested in the alliances and political manuverings and battles that are waged upon this continent among various different nations. Therefore I'd like to start a Diplo game on the European continent.
Same rules as typical diplomatic games except on a european map. But since the traditional map that comes with the game isn't really the best i have selected another which i think does the continent much more justice. This map is highly acurate and a much better rendering of the actual europe. It can be downloaded at the apolyton site, and is called "Real Europe"
Everyone complained last Diplo game i was in that i played as the Metalheads and wasn't historically acurate enough, so now we have a shot at being really true to form. The big powers; England, France, Russia, Germany have to be taken, and the rest of us have an option of being other nations that have had a big effect in Europe. Spain, Italy, Poland, Greece, Turkey, etc. Personally I am going to be the Hungarians. And you can try and stop me.
I'd like us all to agree on which nation we want to be first and so that the host can make sure that we each start in the correct Earth historical spot.
1x1x, Seven players, difficulty and barbs are up for discussion, traditional diplo rules apply.
Also, since the last diplo game i was in fell into disaster since no one had really done a diplo game before i'd like to get some experienced players in this one. As for a time i'm free sunday afternoons EST for a few hours. I am of course open to discussion on that.

But i think Berzerker is an experienced diplo player...
Sunday would be fine with me...

I can make it this sunday at 630 or 7EST. Usually I will be able to make it earlier on Sundays, but I have drill this weekend.

I have spoken with Ozzy on AOL about this, and we would really like it if a Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, or Turkish player would crop up and join our little group. If you haven't seen the map it is way differant from the regular Civ 2 map, for instance:
1- Britain is much larger, as is Italy and the Balkans (Greece as well), Russia is much smaller.
2- The middle east is non existant on this map, only Turkey is there, and parts of Africa.
3- This is probably one of the most realistic maps I have seen, and judging by the countries we have so far, everyone should have a great chance at being a dominating force.
That's about it, the map is really good, and contrary to whatever that one guy said, I have serious doubts that a Russian has a huge advantage on this map, to put it in other words: Moscow is barley on the map, there is not much to Russia on this one, landwise.
I guess we are starting on Sunday, I agree with King Mode and Raging Hordes of Barbarians, I think we should have single production and double movement, since it is the whole continent of Europe and not the world, what does everyone else think?

If you guys need another player I will volunteer to play Spain. I am flexible about all game settings except for movement.....Im only interested if it is 1x movement. I am a veteran of DiploI and Tales from the Diplo Front II not to mention Open Letter to all Nations.....probably 2 of the 3 most successful diplo games of all time. Let me know what time you are starting on Sunday.

There is a minor problem here, I kinda run a wrestling website and I need to watch the PPV that is on from eight until eleven, so this poses a problem, I could realistically miss the first hour, but that would be a great disservice to my readers, as I would be assuming rather than reporting actual crap.
Who cares tho, if we start at 6:30 I can only play until nine, which kinda dampers whatever time-frame you guys had in mind.
Anyway who cares, Giuseppe Garibaldi shall lead the Italians to glory, and who the hell is gonna be the White, I would rather start as white if that is not a problem, unless the Russians will take offense.
Also one more thing, because I know this will become an issue in the game, I don't think that the current borders of European countries should be used as a factor, ie, say I settle eastern Spain, I don't think the Spanish should be able to demand that I hand it over to them in any political arguments due to the fact that it is "Naturally Spanish" Know what I mean?
Just an example, calm down Spaniards!
