	Civ3 - "data3.cab" Support Apolyton

I have been trying to reinstall Civ3 after having reformatted my hard drive without first uninstalling it and I can't install. Keeps stopping at 97% and wants to find "data3.cab". Can't get further than this. Any help, please.

I assume you're using the original CD? If it's a backup try the original, as the disc may be damaged. If the original does this it might be worth checking to see if you can get it replaced, or see if a hired/borrowed CD (if these options are possible) has any better luck. That way even if your CD is damaged you can reinstall from another disc and hopefully the CD check will still confirm you have the game from the damaged CD.

AFAIK, this is what happens when you try to install from a backup (not original) CD - the copy protection system is the culprit.

I found the answer. I reinstalled Civ3 using miminal install and it works fine, but slower. I turn off the music when it gets much slower and that helps. Thanks for the replies, guys.
