Commlink to all other factions, useful for early trade pacts.

The further the game progresses, the more reluctant other factions become to trading with you.

This places a high premium on getting comm frequencies early, and is the primary benefit of the Unity Wreckage.

er, I think it just gives the location of their headquarters

also it gives a unit mining laser unit (2-1-1) and i _think_ some energy credits.

Plus a VERY useful <1>-1-8 chopper-- If you find it early, this chopper can boost exploration incredibly .. . Its also great against the worms

....and a scout chooper. Actually real nice in the early game before you have really cleared the fog around you. Plus it usually is an independent unit too.

Yea, there is a "secondary reactor" which gives a scaling amount depending (i believe) on time elapsed. Last time I found it, it gave 300ec, but I know I have recieved less before.

Every time I've explored the unity wreckage, both the chopper and the mining laser became dependent on the nearest city, unlike units I found in pods nearby.

When you explore the wreckage, not only do you get the chopper..but you also get the ships reactor which can be used to create fissioin planet busters.


......naw, I can't back that up.

That would be cool.

I always wondered why probe teams could not use back-pack planet-busters. Since everything seems to have portable fission reactors there should be no shortage of fuel-rods to reprocess into U235.

On the Huge map of Planet, I am never able to find credits in the wreckage. I think there may be a placement error on that map.

I have also never found Credits and I always use the Huge Map, I will try other maps and see if I can find it.

Whial we are on the subject

I find the Crash Site to be a very poor bit of terrain, its a 5x5 area that is always FLAT and BARREN which makes it near worthless to develop (though some people might find it usefull as an energy park). I also find it a bit odd that the impact of the Unit was able to devestate an area the size of Australia (its not the Metorite after all)

So I desided to do a bit of map Editing and spruce up that area a bit. I added some moisture and hills and rivers and removed most of the Crater graphics by raising and lowering the terrain, now the crash site is only 5 tiles and the Chopper, Base Locator and Mining Laser all still work.

Their are some other changes as well. I incressed the size of the Middle Continent (one with Garland Crater and Manifold Nexus) add a bit more Fungus and Bonuses and Monoliths. Added a lot of land around Mount Planet making it a more vialble home for a Faction thats starts down their. Also cut the land bridge connecting the InlandSea/Unity Crash site/Ruins continent from the Mount Planet Complex and the "Planet Neck" bridge over on the Monsoon Jungle/BoreHole Cluster Continent.
