Nah, when I want to have a better look at something I'll just take a screenshot so I can load it into PSP and use the enlarge or zoom function

Which is the one reason why I haven't switched to LCD myself yet: I'm waiting for the 1600x1200+ LCD mons to become affordable. But even then, if they'd be competing with 25" CRT mon which supports 2560x1920 and higher, I'm not so sure which one I'd rather use.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I run my 17" monitor at 1280x1024 res

Games i run at hi-res also (always above 1024x768) if i can

and i wouldnt even consider running windows at any lower res (unless for some extrordinary reason)

I didnt vote in the poll cause it didnt make sense (and i wasnt prepared to read the linked thread in the first post to enable it to make sense)

But i do say, support as many res's as poss, and CERTAINLY go above 1024x768 at a minumum

As long as the price of the LCD is far higher than the price of the usual screens there is no way I choose a LCD.

But I must admit that my next screen will certainly be a 19" and that it will become difficult to manage a place for the keyboard once the screen will be on the desk.

I actually got both at home and at work 21" screens, with both of them able to run 1600*1200, but I must admit as some applications can't change their font it get's hard to read, so that's why I normally stay with 1024*768.

I dont like the colours on LCD's, or on some when you look from an angle at the screen its just black, thats total pants compared to a well built monitor.

well Daggerfall runs in less, and its women's breasts are quite fine on my screen

Well we got 7 for and 6 against - but the biggest hitters have sort of been against

I think we should force people to change their settings - it will train them to better use their computers(and they might enjoy the internet more

I must admit, I haven't voted yet...........

OK, CTP2 is an older game, but it is playable on most Windoofs platforms, so shall not be really such an issue, but the argument off the laptops made me thinking again...........

Actually anyone has got some data on what would be the oldest laptop supporting 1024*768 resolution?

Looks like there is enough concern about dropping the lower resolution to merit not dropping it.

Unless someone thinks my time would be wasted I'll start putting together some tighter city manager graphics. With the smaller working space for all the info we need I see no choice but some minimum use of some tabs.

Because my work load is picking up a bit this will be a slow process. I'll post work-in-progress images and hopefully get workable feedback. I'll confess to being concerned about doing a lot of work then not having enough group interest to get the manager programmed. Also a concern of mine is ending up with a designed-by-committee finished product. But I'm sure this is just the nature of a project like this.

welcome back .

you will never get designed by committee. just some one design with ideas from other people which you can adopted or drop.

Thanks Big Mc, good to be back.

I'm not a CTPII Buddha likes some of the folks around here and want to careful about designing something useful. Plus someone has to like the concept well enough to program it, and that could be a big job. I think a step-by-step approach may ease some of my concerns.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I am not a Buddha neither but IMO you will not end up with a design-by-committee product.

Taking into account the input of the players is nonetheless important, you don't want to design a city interface that won't be used because the CtP2 players don't like it or because they don't find the informations they need.

Now that the SourceCode has been released, we (at least the programmers) have the possibility to repair and improve the original game beyond all hope and we can design the CtP of the future. But the SourceCode Project has three great advantages over the original designers, we don't have any deadline, we don't have to earn money and we have peoples who are playing the game since a few years now right under our hand... as well as new players that can provide us with a fresh opinion over the game and the SourceCode Project (and they are as important as experienced players IMO if we don't want to end up looking at our navel).

We would be fools not to use all these advantages...
