No, Geomodder - if I'd built a unit, all the minerals would have been GONE. It would have taken another 4-5 turns to get enough minerals to fill a row so I could afford the rush-buy... and that's wasting turns.

So I gather you exceeded even the number of minerals for a colony pod. Yes, then it makes sense, and saves quite some energy you can use for a future rec tanks. I'll try it out in my next SP game. Thanks.

Mainly used for Morgan, because Morgan can least afford to build units that chew up support.

With other factions I think you're better off building units to pod pop.

No problem. When industry exceeds growth its a very good plan (one of the reasons I hated Civ 3 was because of loosing 2 pops when you built a settler, and rushing in despotism costing pop too making expansion so grinding and dull...)

Yes, and it even works with a lucky pod pop (25-50 ec's at least two times) for any other faction with access to an early SP.

And I never got used to the 2 pops loose either in Civ3.

After getting Planetary Networks sans IB, I was in the ****.
My next tech to research could only be Social friggin' Psych.

I'll go Pods to the first b-limit, with Patrols and Formers in each base. Only then would Commons be of much use to me.
When Pop growth starts (or the b-limit is passed), extra drone control becomes important.

My next target is IA (as always). I'm missing my pods too, but I'll get by.

Yes, I noticed. I actually flew around to visit different areas. Funny things that I have seen: a man climbing the rampart of Xi'an, about all young and older people on the street dressed in uniformlike or similiar clothing in Beijing, a woman (probably a farmer woman) actually peeing through her pants in the middle of Shanghai. Nicest pic I was able to take there was that of a toddler sitting next to a small monkey, staring at eachother.

Hmmm looks like you've seen more than I have. You sure you're about 30 years old? I came from where you saw young and old people dressed in uniformlike clothing, but I'm sure we haven't done that for at least the past 20 years.

And before you say anything, no I wasn't in Beijing when you visited it, most likely. Nor Xi'an, nor Shanghai either. I was in another part far away from them.

I'm from '69, remember? And was there in autumn '91 or '92. Airport was full of uniformed youngsters, city was full of older people in their blue outfit, but the +20 --> -50 were just in civilian except for the police and army, off course. I actually stayed in a small hotel which had an outlook at a small molding factory in the back. I woke up with the sound of preaches to the factory workers every day there.
And even if we were in the same area, fat chance for actually meeting among what, 20-25 million other Chinese people. Sooo many...

Hmmm it must be some kind of vision illusions. In my memory 1991 or 92 people were wearing pretty colorful clothings. Must be that you were comparing them with where you are from, and I was comparing them with what we used to be. Blue or green outfit is a norm during 1960s to 1980s. If you were at the train station, that it is understandable because a lot of people there were people who came from the countryside to look for some kind of construction works, which means they might still be wearing old blue outfits.

And we are way off topic here, I reckon.

Ah what, the thread is about full anyway. And you're correct in assuming that I looked more closely at what I wasn't used to at the time. I was still a youngster at the time having a severe date with his first culture shock.
