OK, just a little thread to give an easy place to link up to my recently complete scenario, Kaiser.

A chance to slog out WW1 (and beyond) without the inconvenience of rats, mud and Mauser fire!

The game and sounds zip can be found here!

http://cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/civ2/viewforum.php?f=81

Check the Kaiser thread, second page - Follow the standard CIV2 installation procedure.

Make a cuppa of good Brit tea (or fine German coffee) and enjoy!

Looks super!

Parts of the Advice file are hilariously cynical.

Recommend minor spell check of Advice and Pedia files.

EDIT:
Sorry to have to report this Curt, but Events may be in error if Berlin is captured by the Russians or Petrograd is captured by the Central Powers. I think the minus signs in front of the reward amounts are wrong, they penalize the victorious side rather than the losers. In the rest of the file the losers are consistently penalized.

This file could also do with a quick spell check and edit.

Damn those bugs!

I have learned not to rely on MS spell checker - I will use Atlantis and go through the text files...

Cheers for the heads-up, Agricola!

I've played through several turns and so far it looks and plays great, and as someone in the other thread said, I like how makes the Schlieffen Plan the most likely route to success as the CP. One question though: What's up with the city names? It seems like you wanted to have the cities be in their native tongue, but in the case of Russia it looks like you used German names (I could tell you how they'd be transcribed from Cyrillic), and the transcription isn't standard for Chinese cities, like if you use Peking, you should also used Tsingtao (And Qingdao for Beijing). Just nitpicks though. And it seems like there were a couple other issues with the Events file, like the event for taking Belgrade only being triggered if it's held by the Rebels. Anyway, I just thought I'd bring these things up. Overall it looks, feels and plays great, I can't wait for the pbem to get going.

Hey Curt, awesome scenario but I noticed one thing. A regular submarine has an attack of 19 while the "U-boot" had an attack of 11. Seems like a mess up to me. Should the submarine have an attack of 9?

A few more things I noticed:

In your game, Greenland belongs to the Entente while in reality it belonged to Denmark. Perhaps you should give Greenland to the Free Nations?

The Krupp mortar has zero movement but an attack of 10.

The American troops have an attack of 5 while all other troops have 2 or 3. I'm no expert on WWI but I've been taught that our army was poorly trained and equipped prior to the war.

The French troops have an attack of 3 but in reality it should be -3. (J/K)

Anyways, you did a very good job making the scenario. Dictator Kaiser is THE best WWI scenario I've ever played.

Greenland was originally given to the free nations, but someone told me to change it to Entente!

The city has minimal influence...So I wouldn't worry much about it.

The US troops are one of those units designed to break the trench deadlock, hence the inflated attack.

I will check the Krupps gun movement...

Now come on, France fought hard in WW1 - and in WW2 only were caught out by mobile warfare!

I am glad you enjoy it, Riesstiu!
I will make a few adjustments based on your advice!

the event is toward the beginning. I summarized it from memory, sorry, but if a Rebel unit is killed by the CP there's a popup about Austrian and Serbian troops fighting. Which probably would make much sense, right?

The 'discovery' is really the end of the Schlieffen strategy - The German Inf and Gotha are then available in the aftermath.

Or in 1915 - Whatever happens first.

Should Trieste perhaps be a sea port in your scen as well as in RL? IIRC, the Austrians based their rather small fleet in Trieste and carried on fairly active naval skirmishes with the Italians.

Sorry to heap more work on your shoulders but it appears that my post about Trieste was just the tip of a major iceberg. I'm playing Germany/Deity/Dec. 1914 and have encountered problems in Australia, Britain, Greece and Africa.

After limited checking, it seems that many coastal cities that one would expect to be able to build ships cannot do so while at least one, Milano, can do so despite being inland in RL. As I haven't been able to find any pattern as to which ones can and which ones cannot, I assume that this is not intentional on your part. The problem exists along all coastlines.

I'm simply going to fix my last save so that the shipyards in Stettin and elsewhere can get back to work.

EDIT
Complete check with CivCity shows that many coastal cities are unable to build coastal improvements.
As a Canadian and ex-Torontonian, I must point out that at the time of this scen all the Great Lakes supported thriving fishing industries. The lampreys, zebra mussels and other European imports only showed up much later.
Furthermore, Great Lakes shipyards have built much of the large fleet of Great Lakes freighters as well as submarines and other naval vessels.

You're right. Recon Planes have started showing up in Allied and Italian cities. In my opinion, they represent a complete waste of resources when built by AI. The AI doesn't know how to use them.
