One more turn... just kidding! Suffering from ads?

Playing the No Tech-Trading Challenge (so the save is a spoiler if you're playing it) I ran into this bug again, and have a save this time.

In this save I've pinpointed where the game says 1 more turn of research until Computers is complete. Pollution will pop up next turn zapping a few beakers and you won't get the tech. That's not the problem. I was leaving some leeway to account for possible pollution, and it was well more than needed even accounting for the 2 lost beakers. So when I didn't get the tech finished, I figured something was fishy. I reloaded and upped the research from 80% to 100% (+287 beakers) and tried again, still failing to get the tech.

Here is the save:

This has been around for ages, but it's the first time I've seen a save so it can be replicated. Good job; I suppose it should be added to the annoying bugs list.

Firaxis knows this at least nine months, including reported saves. Nothing happened.

Coincidentally, the first example you quoted happened to me in the NTTC game today. I had one turn of research to go, pollution popped up and next turn, still 1 to go. Dropped research to zero and 3 Scientists did the job.

But what you've described is quite clearly a bug....and pretty annoying at that too. Did you test how many beakers it took you to get the tech next turn? Maybe just one Scientist?

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Just had a look at your game Aeson....and you never fail to amaze! Simply awesome. If you wouldn't mind rustling up a save or two from the early to mid middle ages, I would seriously like to have a long hard look at what it takes to get yourself into such a commanding position. I'm sure many of us could benefit greatly from your knowledge.

One thing I don't understand though....why did you build your FP in St Petersburg, right next to your capital?

I've kept a save from every turn that game, so I'll post a few along with my AAR in the other thread. Just didn't want to post too far into the game so soon.

I built the FP so close half expecting to move the Palace later on to the NW. I never got the leader to do so.

The way that corruption works in C3C, the main benefit of the FP is getting the OCN increase, and that works the same regardless of where the FP is placed. The distance corruption tends to be a rather small factor, and that's where the FP placement will matter.

Yes, if the FP is too far from the palace rank corruption will just kill you anyway, making the new core for distance corruption irrelevant. I guess the best location is the second or third ring out from the palace.....assuming you're not in Communism, which seems to make the FP location totally irrelevant.

Increase Your PM Length

That's WAY, WAY past where I'm at, so I'll hold off the lookie.

Hell, I just enterred the Medieval age and actually am no where near as far behind as I thought I would be. Have an outside shot at Sistines/Bach (if I research musice theory at all...) I discovered, a good shot at Capernicus, and kept the Mongols alive just because they are in the roulette for Leo's. Which would be very nice of them if they make it for me.
