Eastern Moesian Army to Macedonia
You are not satisfied with our service? We were, erm, securing the supply lines, yes, that was it...
Anyway, we´d like to settle at the Aquilean coast! If we get a town there once it´s conquered, we´ll fight even harder for your kingdom...
Odessos Polis to Macedonia
You be the Macedons? We heard of you people. Fine shepherds, we think. Once there was a brave farmer here who explored the hills even beyond our town wall! When he returned after three days, he said he saw the end of the world, and he said he had spoken to some "Eastern Moesians". They told us of their vassals, the Macedons. Do the Moesian masters know that you are now claiming colonies in their half of the world?

I think I'll jump in as Egypt, if that's ok by Micha? Feels a little less crowded than Lydia, where Persia and Macedonia are constantly traipsing through my fields threatening each other.

That´s perfectly fine for me
(Though I had preferred Lydia, much more ventures to be taken...)
Have fun!
To everybody (but Macedonia):
What about issuing some orders?
Moesian Army to Macedonia
Wives, huh? Well, we had preferred to "aquire" some suitable women in Aquileia, but if that´s what you want, we have no problem with inviting our relatives over... Might be costly for you, though...
Odessa to Macedonia
Either you are a liar, or the Moesians are. There´s just one way to find out, anyway, so we will send a party of fearless dare-devils from our town as well as two members of the wise men´s counsil. One of them is a seer, so don´t even think of cheating us!
If your "kingdom" is as great as you say, we might consider a closer relationship. But be warned! The Moesians told us they have a mighty army of hundredthousand warriors, so if they find their vassals deceiving, may the gods be with you!

Egyptian budget: 58 talents from turn plus 7 talents treasury:
8 talents for 1000 foot soldiers.
18 talents for 1260 swordsmen.
20 talents general training for the military, in an attempt to increase military effectiveness.
14 talents to improve farming practices, buy new farm equiptment for peasants, and generally improve peasants lives and grain output.
By my count, this gives me 1,365 war chariots, 7,899 horsemen, 5,260 swordsmen, 5,279 foot soldiers. These are to be placed in Memphis.
The Egyptian Times: The newspaper that would have been printed in Egypt in 285 BC if they'd spoken English, if all sorts of counterfactual history explained in the last 6 pages of posts had happened, and if they'd had newspapers back then.
The Pharoah is dead! His long reign was finally terminated late last night when he died peaceably in his sleep. His successor, his eldest son, has assumed the throne to wild enthusiasm from the Egyptian people. The Egyptians, unhappy with the former Pharaoh's record of poor military leadership and general degradation of Egypt, excitedly look forward to a new reign of peace and prosperity.
Egypt to Persia: We welcome a chance for peace and prosperity between our nations, and offer a unique opportunity: We propose the formation of a trade route between Mephis and Jerusalem, in an attempt to generate income for both of us. We also wish to assure you that our military build-up will not threaten you; we're merely trying to eradicate barbarian nomads from our domains. As we remove some of our garrisons from our mutual borders, please consider doing the same, in an effort to avoid further hostilities.
Egypt to Carthage: We assure you that our new regime is not interested in petty land disputes or old blood fueds. We know that you have other enemies, and we will gladly step back and let you focus on them. Please consider removing troops from our borders.
Egypt to Macedonia: On studying records of the past (both NES and historical) we've learned that Greece and Macedonia have suffered from famine and that the fertile Nile Delta has been able to assuage that hunger. We'd like to begin a trading partnership, food for talents. As we do not yet have as much surplus as we eventually hope to have, we would like to begin with a small trade deal; perhaps 1 talent's worth of grain to be delivered to your port Alexandrograd each year (5 talents per turn)? You'll have to transport it yourself, we have no navy.
Egypt to Lybian Nomads: We would like to request that your army stand down, rather than be forced to fight you. We do, however, understand that you are men of battle, and so make this proposal: Join the Egyptian army, enjoy the protection of Egypt, and we will give you 5 talents to divide amongst yourselves as a "signing bonus". Please consider our offer.

You know, I just didn't like the idea of being squished between two large countries. I know Egypt's not much better, but at least there's some room to grow and I'm not totally surrounded. What, do you expect Lydia to attack Persia or Macedonia? Even Crete's a lousy option to attack, since the Cretan Navy is strong, although not as strong as it once was, and the Cretan army would exact some heavy tolls when I if I tried to take it. I also liked the higher income in Egypt and the fact that Egypt gets war chariots, while Lydia has no special troops.
As to invasion; who wanted a safe, boring country?

Lol. Poor expendable bastard. Was that in reaction to the price I offered, or was he decapitated on sight?
That gives me 5 more talents to spend. Make that 19 talents towards the economy and such. I'll update my earlier post.

Egypt to Macedonia:
Barring unforeseen hostilities between our nations, our offer remains open. As time progresses, we may be able to increase the amount available to export.
Egypt to World: We open our offer to export grain to any country wanting to begin importing it.

Micha, did I guess right that foot soldiers have spears, and light infantrists are ranged units?

Ok, thanks!
EDIT: Wait a minute; if foot soldiers are equipped with spears, among other things, why are they so vulnerable to cavalry? Does that mean that only the nations with hoplites have a good counter for cavalry?

OOC: Yes, but I'm just making sure you understand that my little military build-up isn't intended to threaten you. Especially since Egypt and Carthage have been at war in the past. It's just to eliminate or assimilate the nomads in the area.
EDIT: And I've talked to Persia about this, and he's dropping the war. It's peace, and I think it has been for a turn or two, reading the back logs.

Carthage and Egypt have been allied for a while, and Persia and Egypt have been at peace for a little bit. In any case, I'm not getting involved in any Persia-Carthage war, at least not yet. I want peace with both of them, but what they do otherwise is their own business.

OOC: I'm sure Sinai was Egyptian originally, I'm not sure if Egypt has anything of Persia's. I think it's the other way around.
So cavalry and swordsmen counter cavalry? What on earth is the point of foot infantry then? Just cannon fodder? I may change my troop purchasing plan in that case
Egypt to Carthage:
(secret)
Maybe. I'm not going to allow massive armies to just waltz through Egypt, certainly not without some payment for passage. You could go much cheaper by trireme along the Egyptian coast, but you'd have to deal with the Macedonian Navy and such and so forth. I'm open to the possibility, but at the moment it's not my first choice, I'd need a very good reason to let you through.
