RON & Microsoft xml on Athlon 64 Full PM-box? Change here!

Retail CD RON completes the install normally, but when I try to run it, I get an error message about msxmlenu not being installed and RON fails to start.

Big Huge games has an FAQ that says The microsoft xml site has an xml download to fix this. The download does not help me. Same error message. I also applied the RON patch, same...

Windows xp sp1, Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB memory, ATI Raedon 9700 Pro, gigabye ga-8knnxp f11 bios

I am a pretty keen C3C player and wanted to a try a Microsoft version....., I had the same error message when I loaded the free RON trial version, so I thought a full retail might fix it .... bad idea *

Anybody running RON on an Athlon 64 and similar rig?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Dude, try these steps and i'm sure you'll be playing this lovely game in a matter of minutes.

Uninstall MSXML and MSXML SP2
-------------------------------------------

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click "Add or Remove Programs".
3. In the list of currently installed programs, if you find the entry ‘MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser’ or ‘MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK’, select it and click on Change/Remove.
4. Follow the onscreen instruction to uninstall.
5. Now look for the entry ‘MSXML 4 Parser’, then select it and click Change/Remove.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to completely uninstall the program.

Install MSXML4 from the game disc
---------------------------------------------

1. Press and hold SHIFT while you insert disk 1 of ‘Rise Of Nations’.
2. In the root folder of the CD-ROM, double-click the Redist folder, and then double-click the Msxmlenu.msi file.
3. To complete the installation process, follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

After this installation is complete, install the service pack 2 for MSXML as it will keep your system updated and will help the game run in idealistic conditions. To download it, visit the following website:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...&DisplayLang=en

On this website, you will find the service pack 2 for MSXML. Install it by following the instructions displayed on the website.

this'll help

Full PM-box? Change here!

Thanks for answering gurleens, but ...
I have no XML or XML Parser listed as installed, so I don't see how to uninstall it...

When I try the CD redist folder, i get an error message from the xml installer that the folder "program files" has an invalid character . I can assure you it does not.

Are you or anybody else running RON on an Athlon 64 3200? Windows xp sp1.... To date RON is the only game I have not been able to run - C3C runs fine.

Thanks again ... anymore ideas?
