Are we drilling to aquefiers, or just discussing a moist flowing effect?
Female Gamers... Let this one be more agressive than HongHu.
Don't you all hate stereotypical women?
Circularily flowing water is a Perpetual motion machine,
but Aquefiers already violate geology (Hydro) so why not the 2nd law of thermodynamics as well?
I tend to drill to aquefiers in a region I'm just planting bases in.
Natural roads are useful before you get a road on every square.

"I Tried to Drill to an Aquifer and All I Got Was This Lousy Magma"
T-Shirt Slogan, Mount Planet Tourist Information Center
Raise / Lower Terrain, Drill to Aquifer, and 1000m solar collectors yielding double the energy of 10m collectors all seem pretty unrealistic.
The absence of "cliffs", areas where the elevation steeply rises, also seems unrealistic: the game forbids a difference in height over 999m between any two squares.
The planet isn't even spherical; it's a cylinder, like an old-time phonograph roll.
Maybe cliffs aren't allowed because they cause the needle to skip ...

Not aggressive at all, I'm rather passive. But dis my likes (i.e. Alpha Centauri, horses, endangered species(make that all species of animal)) and I'll kick you around so bad it isn't funny. Hence my screenname, Sirrocco. He's the most aggressive gelding (he's a horse) I know.
BTW, that "I tried to drill and Aquifer..." slogan is funny. Maybe I should use it next time I take an American Government course.
I've noticed the absence of cliffs, too. It seemed, but I didn't really pay attention since Sid Myers Civilzation II was the same way. I think it was easier for programers to do, so they decided to keep with the same pattern.

Actually, they might. We have some gamers in there.
I meant don't disrespect things I like.
As for "The Baby Harp Seal Joke is a gut buster"...I didn't understand what you mean by that. I am a conservationist at heart. But I don't go tree-hugging. That's why I always pick the Gaia faction. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to find my Alpha Centauri CD so I can reinstall the program.

What's black and white and red all over?
A seal hunt during an oil spill.
Who has the most important role in the successful preservation of wildlife?
The taxidermist.
There is a place in the world for all God's creatures, right between the cornbread and mashed potatoes.
What's another name for "extinct species"?
Fossil fuel
What do Paris Hilton and Canada Eskimos have in common?
Both go clubbing
Hmm, really scraping the bottom of the oil barrel now. Sorry these aren't as funny as the last batch. There's only so much humor to be beaten out of baby harp seals.
Maybe I can salvage this message after all: just as my humor runs as a kind of counterpoint to my true opinions, Jamski, an avowed vegetarian in real life, plays SMAC-X like Saddam Hussein on safari.
How many of you play SMAC-X in a way that expresses your own ideals, how many of you play the exact opposite of your personalities, as with Jamski's supernova 500+ eco-damage empires, how many role-play your chosen faction, and lastly how many play strictly against game-paradigm challenges, such as fastest win or highest score?

I'm something of a game-paradigmer myself; I like to tinker with various strategies and see whether they work and if so how well.
My latest strategy is "beeline to hab-domes", a painful progression of useless techs (pressure hulls instead of clean reactors?!) which has led to a whole different array of problems than I'm used to.
That's really what I like about the game: discovering new ways to play it.

Explorer 93%, Achiever 66%, Killer 40%, Socialiser 0%
Explorer:
I play the game to learn and teach.
Finding optimal tactics and executing them to see their effects.
Devising excellent strategies and testing them out.
Achiever:
More mins! More labs! More pop! More mil! More ECs! More land!
I have the instinct to go for power, and sieze the win.
Killer:
Simply put, I'll pick out someone I don't like and beat their faction into oblivion.
Exercising my inherent frustration against
all the annoying newbies that don't care about understanding the game or learning how to play well.
Writing and Reading prose fiction? Good.
Letting such things interfere with the game? Bad. VERY bad.
Ultra super mega lameass epitomy of stupidity bad.
ACDG3: An RP governmental system is ****ing up a faction that would do better with a system I tailor-made for that team.
But they're a bunch of idiots who would rather stick to their tried-and-failed RP ways,
because they DON'T care about efficiency in-game, they DON'T care about interpersonal functionality out of game,
All they care about is their own hedonsitic enjoyment and postcount.
They lack the desire AND the capacity to understand both my ideas and my personality.
By my ENTP temperament, I get very pissed off when people don't hear out my views and beliefs.

Standard rant for an expressive thinker being screwed around by a mob of idiots.
Democracy doesn't work for this very reason.
Instead of making 'all men equal' and living by 'equal laws' and all that BS...
How about having different value and actions to different people?
That makes much more sense to me, in that it allows all members of the party to use their skills and enjoy their part.
Creative people would propose ideas.
Judgemental people would decide what ideas to follow.
Social people will ensure everyone is happy.
This, to me, is a better system in that no party has authority over any other party.
In a game like this, we play because we want to play. There needs to be no enforced rule as to how we better our faction.
The act of our singing up implicitly implies our good intent.
Any attempt to enforce a rule on the matter introduces personal bias where it is not necessary.
Rules are for those who prefer guided thought; they should never be forced towards those who prefer free thought.
With the number of people we have here,
and noticing that we have some social skills,
those with conflicting ideas will be able to resolve the matter without a third party stepping in and controlling them.
Let conflict of interest resolve itself.
Different people.
Different tasks.
Different rules.
Obviously, people will take up tasks of their own volition, for that is why they joined the game.
Let people choose their own task and working conditions.
I thought that the Gaians would be a place of free love?
BS. They're still using the old BS systems.
They don't know why they follow these systems, or even understand the system's processes!
I, at least, know what I'm doing...
So why not allow me to invent the system?
If you don't, I'll become annoyed because my creative streak was disrespected. Why should order-following be the only correct way?
My personality is viable, too - and if you're not able to work with different personalities then you are quite socially stupid.
So we got Logical Morons -and- Emotional Morons leading the future.
Just lemme get my grandiose idea of a social system in place.
All personality is self-supporting, and so too does a governmental system support the person on which it is based.
So do you support someone who won't understand others, and doesn't allow open-ended improvement...
or someone who understands and desires to help, plans a system that's free to improve, AND is smart enough to make it?
Or are you just going to take the zero brainpower path, and stick to what you know, even though it will one day kill you?
...
Exactly what I though.
I'm altruistic when I'm calm,
but my goal is to instate a system where Creativity and Judgement are not ****ed about,
and instate values for Acceptance and Understanding.
I become majorly annoyed at blocks to my goals.
