GWT Asks About Worker Trading Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Just got this PM from bongo of GWT:

Are my assumption wrong, or has a workaround been discovered?

I guess that we can tell them................

If the recipient civ (of the workers) has any city that could trade with the donor civ (of the workers) utilizing current technology/road/harbor/airport configuration, then the worker trade will execute from capitol to capitol without regard to the current technology/road/harbor/airport of the capitols themselves.

We controlled Orlando on the requisite turn.

Also...from the correspondence thread

quote:

I'm afraid I've missed something. Things have been so silent at the embassy in Webringia that I have overlooked a letter of a week ago:

quote:
Just noticed that 6 netatolian workers are in Apolytons service. How did that happen?

Normally, workers cannot be gifted to a civ on another continent pre-navigation/magnetism(we have tried).

Unless said workers are still on CGNs territory or in the orlando area, I would say you have employed some sort of exploit to get them home.

6 workers are no big deal, but I don't like that you try to circumvent the ban on unit-jumping.

Bongo, Krigsminister, GWT

It wasn't an exploit, was it? Can anyone explain this so I can get it back to GWT. As far as I know trading workers was always possible in PTW.

Aidun

I think GWT has a point.
Had it been posted that we needed a city on thier continent to receive the workers, then I would of spoken up against the trade.

Put an end to popups!

This was not unit jumping.

GWT gifted cities to GCA on their continent. CGN did they same for us. It's just that we gave back the city (Orlando) and GCA kept the cities GWT gave them. It's no big deal and we owe them no explanation. If they need to be told that no unit jumping took place then mongoose can tell them that. GWT does not need to know "how" we do things. Screw their curiosity.

This is an Actual Mechanic of this game, built in for this very purpose. I say that we tell them that they were purchased from CGN, at a very good price. They facilitated the mechanics for the move, along with the proper method of diplomatic transfer.

This isn't an exploit....and we tell them that.

Its a mechanic of the game. But the mechanic requires a trade route which would not of existed without a temporary city swap.

Try getting an AI to agree to a temporary city swap to trade workers with you.

I honestly supported this on the grounds that it was a mechanic of the game and thus not an exploit when it was discussed, but I didn't know it required an open trade route and that we'd need to city swap to do it.

Given that...I'm leaning towards it being just another form of unit warping and thus wrong.

Hell... I want those workers as much as the next guy, but I have to agree with wervdon.

It was not posted that we will need a city on their continent for the transaction to work.

It's somewhat questionable use of a game mechanic, but IMO nowhere near as bad as teleporting GCA's units (including an army) was. So I don't see how they have any right to ***** about it.

Just explain what we did.
