Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add custom music to Civ3/C3C? I don't want to replace any music, just add some.
I don't suppose it would be as simple as adding an mp3 or wav file into one of the sound dirs?

I believe the conquests themselves employ some form of list...?
You'd have to investigate further, though...

Am not even sure where the music is, but if you'll find the file(s) you might be able to find the codec/ format with Gspot (right?) and then you can try to compile some other music in the same format or add to the file (if one) with some music editing program.

Thanks guys, but I know how to replace music. I was hoping there was a way to add music, not replace existing music.
Cerbykins, I don't suppose you have any further info?

Don't even use sound. It can get awfully repetitive.

Last Conformist, that's a good idea, however, I like keeping the music inline with the eras, as I do like most of the music. As for the Artillery fire, you could just create a blank audio file and replace the arty sound in the units dir. I ended up altering several of the audio files to reduce the volume on several effects as they just seemed inordinately loud compared to other sound effects.
So I guess there's no known way to add music then? At least not that anyone knows about?

You can't add music, but you can, as noted, replace the existing mp3 files with your own. Beware, though: sometimes it plays back certain files at double speed. Hearing the first movement of Bruckner's 6th is only amusing at high speed once or twice.
Making playlists with your own mp3 application is the best way to go, I think. Unfortunately, you then don't get the change of music into the diplomacy screens. C'est la vie.

Also, unless you got a meaty machine, the end of game slow down becomes unbearable if you're running a seperate MP3 app (speaking from experience)
