	Should We Discuss The Alliance With Pal More? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Im NOT saying should we discuss further provisions, I think thats goes without saying. (That we need to do that)

What I really want to discuss is this:

Are we jumping into this alliance too quickly? Should we discuss it more before the actual poll?

This kind of came up in chat tonight.

Right now the consensus seemed to be that when the fifth turn comes up we tell PAL that we agree in principle but are working on some additional provisions and need some more time.

Will that be enough, or do we actually want to delay this decision.

Open for discussion.

I think you all know my feelings on this so Im going to shut up on this one.

But if you feel we are being rushed and you want to delay this more more than a few daysfor additional discussion of the alternatives, this is the time and place to discuss it.

Ignore the word 'alliance'. We are not contemplating agreeing to everything PAL suggests. We are not agreeing to unspoken ideas. All we are agreeing to do is cooperate with them preferentially on things like techs, lux trades, military movements etc, as already discussed. If we do not agree to these things, we lose out, and there is no less benefit from them not attacking us whenever they see fit.

Look at this as symbolic - like when PAL offered us those two techs. If we are seriously wanting to form a cooperation with them, we should show them we MEAN it, not drag out the first agreement by trying to quantify everything before we agree to be friends. It is not going to cost us anything, and is the first step towards a potentially very mutually profitable relationship. Why on Earth must we delay?

I don't think we need to wait for the deadline necessarily. What we need to wait for is for our major additional provisions to be hashed out over here. I bet we can do that by turn 4 or so.

Well if we agree to the following terms, then it may as well be an alliance:

Tech sharing.
Eliminating CDG jointly post republic.
Game long NAP.
Seeking out and destroying a foreign civ.



EDIT: Also despite the long list of options that I posted in the PAL alliance documents thread, this would represent the bare minimum agreement with PAL, and probally all they really want us to agree to.
