Continent of the Apes.

A propagandist view of the history and future of the Monkey Homeland.

Monkey History.

First contact was made with CoD.
After some early feeling of each other out, there seemed to be common ground that we could work on, and build a healthy trading relationship.
Some early exploration rules were agreed to.
CoD would not explore south, with our guarantee that there were no other teams to be met.
Monkey would not explore north, with CoD agreeing not to restrict our ability to meet other teams.

Obviously, CoD was lying and their "don’t go further North" was to ensure Monkey did not reach Python.

CoD & Python did their early trades leaving Monkey behind in tech.
And almost certainly began to plot their evil plans.

However, Monkey was overjoyed when it was suggested that our 3 team continent join in an alliance to ensure our tech & economic growth and have a chance of keeping up with the yet unknown 4 team continent.
An avoidance of early war, tech co-ordination, map trading, would be a benefit to everyone.

But we soon realised that a full alliance was not what CoD had in mind.

What Monkey thought was agreed upon was for all of us to gift techs, and share tech research for the benefit of all.
What CoD wanted to do, was to keep tabs on tech points and sell tech to Monkey in order to drain our wealth and stifle growth.
A very disappointed Monkey team, with its poor starting position, and tech inferiority, had no chance catching up or make the payment demands of CoD.
Our only option was a devious plan to sell "Goodie huts" to CoD, for low level techs.
ie give CoD the location of Monkey Goodie Huts in return for gifting us old tech.

But once our goodie huts were exhausted, Monkey (with it poor starting position) was always going to trail CoD.

The military buildup by Python did not go unnoticed.
Nor the extraordinary faith & co-operation between the two teams, when we noticed Python workers clearing & roading jungle for CoD.

Our warnings to CoD of Pythons military might were responded with little concern.

Also of great concern to team Monkey, was the rapid southern expansion by CoD.
The obvious loss of the dyes to one sole team is obvious, but CoD had excellent land to their west that they were ignoring, in favour of settling in think jungle.

Monkey responded by immediately sending settlers north to establish a border and gain access to at least 1 dye luxury.

And the ultimate insult handed by CoD was the unreasonable demands they insisted for the Republic technology.

Anger was welling within Monkey.
We were being used by team CoD as stepping stones to their own goals of continent domination and tech advancement. Their original offers of co-operation were a complete sham.

The depth of the sham materialised, when a stack of Python Swordsmen moved into attack formation along the CoD/Monkey border.

The CoD grand plan was complete. They successfully manipulated their weak northern neighbours to attack their weak southern neighbours, and managed to source the prime land and central continent position for themselves.

What lies CoD told Python about our territory is unknown, however any team that had the full territory knowledge would see that the land is not worth fighting over.
Pythons vision of palace jumping to better territory is flawed in that the territory on offer, is no better than what that they already own.
But typically of what happens when you have a poor start and a strong neighbour, you jump at any offer of alliance, and do so without the knowledge of the full picture.

CoD & Pythons common membership within the Gathering Storm team is another obvious reason for their alliance. How could they really trust a Monkey Team consisting of GoW & Voxian membership. Whereby CoD was able to use their relationship to manipulate Python into believing attacking Team Monkey, would be the answer to their territory problems.

With CoD screwing Team Monkey over in the republic trade, we have been left in a Despotic government and unprepared for war. Coupled with barbarian outbreaks in key areas, team Monkey had no choice but to evacuate and abandon her cities, and retreat to her core. Pillaging of roads has slowed the Python advance to a 1 tile per turn advance, giving Team Monkey time to prepare and mass build its war machine.

But in times of war, communication is often the first to fail. Errors have been made and some military operations were less than successful.
The loss of Fort Siamang was a regrettable error by our field commanders, but nether-the-less one that succeeded in slowing the Python forces again.

Good news was received that the Prayers to the Prophet of the Church of the Wing Monkey were answered, and he banished iron from the continent.

With that knowledge, the diversionary force in Fort Siamang, and even a despotic Golden Age, Team Monkey has rallied again, and built a force of Mercenaries that even the armies of Python & CoD will find difficult to destroy. Each tile of territory is going to be paid for in Python & CoD blood.

But alas, as history has shown, even the greatest nations of the world will fall, if they are cut off and strangled slowly to death.
Team Monkey may not survive, but neither will the great Python army.

The only winner, will be that quiet giant, the one desperately trying to pretend they didn’t manipulate this whole war, the team quietly rexing while it lets its allies die....Team CoD.

Moving Forward...

The alliance between Python & CoD should not be underestimated.
But with Python's poor territory and blind acceptance as the evil alliance military arm, they will be too far weakened to become the dominant partner on this continent.
They have been poorly informed when made the decision for war against team Monkey, superably manipulated by CoD, and too proud to admit the mistake and change their chosen path into minority.

CoD on the other hand, can barely hide their smugness.
Their grand plan has fallen right into place so easily.
...As they quietly continue their rexing and infrastructure and watch their allies die at the end of mercenary spears.

CoD is the team to be wary of.

The politics & military situation on the New World is far than stable however there is one thing that you can be certain of. CoD will be the "Lego" and "GWT" of PTWDGII.
Do not underestimate them as our fellow brave military warriors of Python have done.
CoD has the power on this continent, and enough territory to win the game.
Do what you can to limit this power.
Put away your petty differences and agree on the limiting of CoD's growth.
Military invasions this early are clearly difficult, although having the armies the two aggressor nations so far from home would make a strategically strike more than feasible.
Importantly however, agree to a tech embargo now.
We have seen the effects of leaving a powerhouse team kept within the tech loop.
And a luxury/strategic resource embargo would certainly slow their growth capabilities.

Most importantly however, support team Monkey in her fight for survival, and make the Python and CoD conquest as slow and agonising as possible.
You each can see our tech situation.
We would desperately take anything you can offer.
And we cannot lie... it is unlikely that we would ever be able to repay you, other than offer our game length gratitude and friendship.

Do not allow our enemies to gain a military superiority over team monkey.
Gift what tech you can offer...Team Monkey will be forever in your debt.

And beware of the giant manipulator.
Do not underestimate them.
Do not trust them.
Their men wear dresses & makeup.
Their women have GoW beards.
They are evil.
They are CoD.

Great stuff H_E. Two content commets.

1. I think we should say that we were actually 'stiffed' on the republic trade by CoD. They broke an agreement to provide republic as part of the hut deal.

2. Regarding military assistance, our continent is clearly reachable by galley, without any sea tile risk. This should be made clear to them, that although intercontinental assaults are indeed difficult, in this case, it IS possible.

Now - as to its impact. I like it. It is mostly factual, until towards the end. Which is fine. I am just concerned that CoD may take this in the same way that GS took the Bobian diplomatic stuff. I wonder if it is OK to allude to the GS connection, and the GoW/Voxian thing, but really downplay it. Maybe even take it right out.

It is understood that everyone was expected to come into this game - well, each new game really, - with a clean slate - ie no grudges. We have no grounds to suggest that previous game relationships played any part in this - and I would hate for our campaign to get off on the wrong foot.

I will review for a second time later today - and see if I have any other comments.

I am also suggesting two other public forum threads.

1. SPAM - which will be mostly lighthearted
2. The Great Simian Crusade! Which will be an extension of your post above - but to encourage the other nations of the world to undertake a Crusade of Faith in Defence of Mother Nature and the Simian species - or something like that. We can also talk about contacting each team to discuss the Crusade, and maybe even setting a time, and date, and chat room where folks can meet to further discuss details. CoD and Python members are not invited. OR - this can be a post within your thread - to keep the conversation from getting scattered among a couple of threads.

Again - great stuff - thanks for taking this on. Been some serious RL time constraints at my end.

Some other suggestions:

Do not lable it as the Continent of The Apes - it makes it sound like we are claiming the entire continent. Suugest you drop that heading - and move the Monkey History line up.

Drop 'devious' from the line on hut trading. Call it 'unique".

sp - thick jungle not think jungle

"Concern was building within ...." Not "Anger was welling ...". The first make us appear much more innocent.

" .....when a LARGE stack of Python Swordsmen.."

Next para when you say 'their weak northern neighbours..' is not consistent when we were trying to warn CoD of Python's military build-up. Suggest we just say northen neighbours.

Next para - instead of "what lies " Just use "What Cod told Python" Lies is too perjorative.

Superbly - not superably.

I would drop the part about Cod not being able to hide its smugness. Too inflamatory. Lets deal in facts - not attitudes.

...far from stable... not ... far than stable...

strategic strike - not strategically

And the alst part about the gifting of techs. We CAN afford to pay something for techs. I think we should make that clear. The last part weakens our position as it makes us look like a charity, and some may think the only reason we are doing this is to get free techs.

How about something along the lines of - monkey does have limited cash reserves - and we can pay cash for techs. But we will need to negotiate discount deals. Anything you can do in this regard would be appreciated, would help us, and hopefully help us delay the invaders.

That's it. Hope these help.

OK - a few minor changes - I will add my editing. But again - it looks great.

But big question - should we wait until we hear from Python. This may push them further away as it does not paint a very flattering picture of them. On the other hand, it may embarras them into action.

con - what's your take - OK to post?

Maybe we should give Python a 24 hr deadline to make a decision. Or face the consequences. And we do not tell them what the consequences are. See what happens.

I will also start the SPAM threads, the Crusade thread - which I think will be an extension of your post H_E, and the auction thread - where we will ask for sealed bids for individual techs or packages of techs - with us buying from the lowest bidder.

But I think the 24 hour deadline should be offered/threatened - and let's see what happens. It will keep them from stalling for time - which is what I suspect they are doing.

Set to Oct

Hey Oct,

Just a quick note.

Team Monkey have been planing an assault on the main forum for some time now.
Just to liven it up a bit, and generate a bit of fun.

We have a problem however, that some of our tongue-in-cheek posts wont be showing team Python in their best light.

Some in our team fear that we will upset your membership and ruin any chance of you taking our offer seriously.

So...

We are requesting that you provide some indication on how your discussion is going with our offer in the next 24 hours. After that ... the poo starts flinging.

Of course, it is hoped that Python will see our posts for what they truly are ... just pure fun at your team expense
And that it wont effect the serious nature of our offer.

But, if it is your opinion that your team is seriously considering it, and there is a possibility that it is accepted, and that our main forum posts would hurt any chance it had, then we will not go ahead.

Regards

H_E - - great ripostes in the main forum my friend. We make a good pair at this.

I will come up with something in respone to the SPAM is a scam thread.

I will also be psoting my call for the Great Simian Crusade today.

Was also planning on PM'ing each of the other teams - just to make sure that they know that our public tender is for real, and to again promote the idea of miltary action.

In the meantime - keep the poo flinging.

Poor con picked an inopportune time to be away.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Received from Solomwi by PM and my response.

Solomwi - many thanks for your note. I am a bit sensitive about offending, especially considering some of the issues which arose in the ptwdg. To be honest - we are trying to sway world opinion. But we are also doing a lot of this tongue-in-cheek, with no intent whatsoever to personally attack anyone or any team.

And yes - it has livened up what was becoming a pretty boring public forum. Your response to SPAM was pricelss btw. Had me in stitches.

Once again - thanks for your note. It is appreciated.

Game on .... Beta

ps - btw, here, have this....(Beta flings a large blob of monkey poo at Solomwi) ...."INCOMING!!!"

Beta,

I am not sure if you are corresponding with any or all of the teams.
Certainly I have not received anything.

Given my, **ahem** “history, in the PTWDG#1, I am refraining from posting too much in the main forum.
They may see you as joking around, but everything I type will probably be scrutinised and taken a lot more personally.

Anyway… I think we may have to contact the teams.
Just lay out the situation for them.

Anything they sell or gift to us will be done anomalously….make that VERY CLEAR…unless they want it to be known.
He11, we will even blame it on another team if they want.

What we really need, is all the techs up to invention.
We need longbowmen. Our mercs rock on the defensive, but we need a counter attack as well.

What we can offer.
Fealty .. if we get crushed, we can always ask them to gift us a city, and they can use & abuse us.
Perpetual Ivory Luxury for 100 turns ? 200 turns ? forever ?
They can drop off some units in our tundra, and hunt barbs. If they want to create some elites and 25g per camp, then they are welcome to them.
Cash gold… but I doubt we can afford too much.
GPT..(But allow for when our GA stops.
We can IOU
We can make payment in slaves (when intercontinental slave trading becomes available)
We can sell the worker moves… ie we will ship over some industrious workers to help mine & road their mountains. Note that we cant chop jungle. (You cant chop jungle or forrest when in another teams territory).. plus, it is against our tree hugging policy anyway.

I’d say that we need a partner to survive, and will most likely accept any demands put forward.

MAST is a good candidate cause they are the runt like us.
If Sunshine is a tech leader, then they may not fear the other teams as much, and will be willing to help us out.
If Latin Lovers are the militaristic powerhouse, then they too may be string enough to stand up to CoD & Python.
And the food guys may roleplay with us, if we agree to send elephant stew for as long as they demand.

I also think, that it would be great to get some tech now … just to show CoD & Python that we have found an ally….That will scare the cr@p out of them.

Good work on the main forum BTW

Got spare money?

Good public forum action from you as well. Note Arrian's PM where he says he is more concerned with your posts. I think that is because they hit closer to the bulls eye.

OK - about to swing into full diplo mode. I will contact the other teams. But I will pay special attention to MAST and LL.

And yes - please see the LL thread for the info received from them. Looks like they have made an offer.
