Well, Raz just did a run through of all the threads and activated as many as he could to make it look like there were lots of threads to read

But the ratings are sliping, despite Mings payolla to Raz... so, what this forum needs is...

This forum needs a new game. Something unique and ambitious, but not pretentious.

You'd never guess who got in touch with me recently Deity. Tony. AKA the Capo. Anyway, it inspired me to come back to poly (despite the awful ads) and see how things are going.

I don't have a timeline, or any great ideas, but I might be interested in getting something running again. The Zulus still have a vendetta that needs settling

Be sure to sign up for the Diplogame civgroup, Drake. HOTW4 looks like its restarting. Capo volunteered for our missing Chinese player.

I think the next big diplogame after HOTW4 finishes (if it does) will be a Civ3 game. Raz has been talking about it for a while, and I'm honestly getting bored with Civ2. Not that I'm entirely thrilled with Civ3, but I think it'd be something interesting to try.

We all know enough now to tailor settings for a realistic game that gets finished - Frank's small Earth, limited caras, 3 city take limit etc.....

Small world sounds like a good start. Limited trading also sounds like a good idea. Limits on capturing cities might also be effective in keeping the game smooth (what no more raping entire continents? ).

One thing I would like to suggest is not trying to max the world out with 7 players. The smoothest diplo game I played was a 4 player game. It was fairly fast even towards the end. And with a small world, 7 is probably too much.

I also think a decided end game scenario needs to be ironed out before the game starts. That way we don't end up in limbo at the end of the game wondering how to write "the end". It doesn't necessarily mean a space race. We could come up with something like, when a civ obtains 75% of the world wonders that civ is named winner, or when a civ reaches a certain population reached they win, or we could even have a capitalistic conclusion - first to set amount of cash wins. I don't know. Point is, we need something we can all aim towards throughout the game. We need a winner. We need an attainable end.

I am only willing to start something with a group of people who I know will show up at designated times. My free time is much more limited than it was a few years ago, and I don't want to waste it.

I'm not committing to anything, but I do think something could be in the cards for the near future.
