Chapter 4 - Eye Eye, Captain
Despite Father Rasputin's protests and struggles, the huge majority of the villagers and pirates were convinced that he was the one responsible for the killings.
"D'ye hate us seamen that much," asked Pave, "That ye'll frame us all fer yer murderin' ways?"
"T'were the Black Duke!" insisted Rasputin, "I seen 'im do it!"
"Nonsense," interjected Rah, "He were 'ere in the bar the whole night, ye've been driven to madness or something."
"But I t'were in the bar too!" claimed Rasputin.
"Sure," said GhengisFarb, "I don't think a man o'god were in that bar last night."
Tuberski hopped over on his peg.
"The clerk says to tell ye," he explained, "That t'votin's done, and the false preacher 'ere is our man."
The villagers and pirates rose together, picking up Rasputin from the floor and carried him to the town square, where he was hung by the neck until he was dead.

Later, after breakfast, GJRamsey was walking along the clifftops with Snowfire and Kassiopeia, telling the two boys of the hardships and joys of a life spent mostly at sea. Ljcvetko trailed behind, looking closely at stones and bushes.
"Me lads," stated the old pirate, "When you're as old as me, and yer eyes are goin' dim, and yer legs are gettin' weak, yer start to want to think about leavin' it all behind."
"But look at the sea!" exclaimed Snowfire, "She's so beautiful and blue!"
"And imagine the romance and the treasure that will be ours one day!" cried Kassiopeia
"Aye lads," continued GJRamsey, "But its not all girl, gold and grog. There's a goodly amount of cold, pain and death to be reckoned with as well.
He paused, squinting down at the near perfect white sands of the beach.
"What's that, lads?" he asked, pointing to a reddish dot down below the cliffs, "If only Pave were 'ere, he's t'one with t'sharp eyes."
While GJRamsey followed more slowly, the boys ran ahead down the cliff path with Ljcvetko in tow. When they got closer to the object they slowed to a walk, then stopped altogether. Flies rose lazily from the corpse that lay spreadeagled on its back in the middle of a growing red pool of blood, running accross the pristine white sands, to dissolve at last in the pure azure seas.
Snowfire lifted the hat off the corpse's face.
"Its the captain," he yelled, "Some bugger's stuck one to the Black Duke!"

Summoned by a blast on his whistle, Jonny soon had the whole village and crew on the beach.
"Look at his face," murmured Kassiopeia.
They looked. The captain was seemingly staring at the sun, but his eyes were burnt out of their sockets.
"Look at his coat," whispered Snowfire.
The captain was literally gutted from one side to another, right through his coat, but not with one clean cut. He appeared to have been hacked at repeatedly.
Ljcvetko sprang into action.
"Sir!" he addressed Jonny, "Can I look for clues please sir?"
Jonny nodded, unable to speak. The Black Duke was dead, the figure that had lead him through so many storms and sea battles, through so many drinking sessions and treasure hunts was gone forever, and now...
...and now he must be the Black Jonny.
Jonny picked up the captain's tricorn hat and set it on his own head.
"Back to the port, shipmates," he said, and there was a small tremor in his voice.

Ljcvetko knelt down by the corpse and pulled out his magnifying glass to examine it closely. This was his moment to shine. He investigated the captain's pockets...
"What's this?" he asked the deserted beach, "A piece of paper? Half a piece of paper? Could it be a clue?"
He studied the map carefully, then turned his attention to the white sands around the captain's body. Unfortunately the large numbers of people had spoilt any chance of finding the killer's footprints in the sand.
The pirate detective sighed and followed the other back to town to vote.

Halfway to the town Jonny stopped. What had the captain told him last night? He had to get the map, before the sea came and washed the white sands clean. He ran back to the corpse, but the map...
...was gone.
Time to vote!
