BTW in my mind, Tekken always sucked, b/c it was so polyogn reliant. Sure it was 3-d but that didn't make it any cooler in my mind. I preferred War Gods on the 64 or Clayfighter 64 to Tekken any day. |
well u know me. give me a paper cut figures held by namco staff moving it around limbs with their hand, taped with camcorder... if the gameplay, the mindgame and psychology behind mp game is good, ill play it

Yeah especially when it becomes a point where you dont even think about it... I like it when i can wheeze thru first world in quake 1 with traps and typical enemy projectile timing completely memorized through just feeling... or play the first level blindfolded with just sound... at certain point, you can condition urself to play the way u memorized it....
mostly only applies to single player games, but it does happen in mp game or sports as well. when you spot a counterhit combo, you react and act according to the combo u have conditioned urself with, or in case with boxing...

So it's supposed to be impressive that Zelda just barely beat a game in its 2nd year of availability...?
In Canada, in 2003, GTA3 was #1 with Zelda in #3: http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/TechNew.../352299-cp.html
And Canada's the country that had, by far, the highest N64 adoption rate in terms of market share.
quote: Not so. People with one console already won't pay for another one just for one game. But if that game was offered for their consoles, they'd buy it in a flash. |
Just what are you basing this on? I know TONS of gamers from high school (BF's friends), college (university...), and now in the professional world (IBM).
Nintendo's dumb-it-down keep-it-simple retro gaming is pissing off more people than impressing. The vast majority of people talk about Xbox and PS2 games, not Gamecube. Gamecube has a stigma about it that it's made for kids. IF you don't believe me, look at the best selling games by game-rating across all the consoles.
Gamecube's is G, and Xbox and PS2 are Mature/Teen.
Zelda simply isn't a mainstream game. It's a niche game with a questionable artistic approach, which is why it sells a fraction of the amounts that Halo and GTA3, and which is why you'll VERY rarely see somebody on a college campus raving about how he beat Super Mario Sunshine or Zelda, while you'll likely hear lots about how their Madden season is going, or a Halo tournament they were at, or how they unlocked all the cars in Project Gotham 2...
