Put an end to popups!

Nintendo rapidly lost marketshare to Sony in the console world, and they're going to do it again in the handheld world.

Once the Xboy comes out, then it'll be really fun.

Me, I prefer Age of Empires on my PDA to any of them...

From all I've read, the battery life on the DS is going to beat the battery life on the PSP. The PSP has some very low battery life (around 2 hours if what everyone is saying is correct).

Other concerns: touchscreens scratch, stylus' are lost, and oils from the fingers can destroy them.

Don't know if it matters, but the creators of the touchscreen say that they made it super tough, so it won't scratch or be messed by oils from fingers.

If people have a choice between the console maker who tried a purple cube with a gay plumber running around spraying water everywhere, or the sleak black console and brand name with a game involving murdering prostitutes for money, which do you think most kids will go for?

You know that comparison sounds very similar to Super-Nintendo vs. Sega Genesis. And we all know the sleek black console with the more mature games won that one, right?

Mario and Zelda will help Nintendo continue its dominance in the portable game world. Those are timeless classics.

WOW... just saw a DS Demonstration Video on Gamespot, and it looks great! The stylus seems to be in use a lot. For the Metroid game (looks amazing... almost as good as the Gamecube game), you can use the stylus for turning and firing (a tap on the bottom screen to fire). And the double screen seems to work very well also.

I agree! Why spend $100 MORE than any other game console?! I mean the DS is the same as the X-Box and PS2, but it's portable and I can see why. ALSO, it is backwards compatible, so you can play the fun Mario and Zelda games for GBA.

If PSP is $250, Sony loses, easy.

Read "Opening the Xbox" by Dean Takahashi.

He discusses the Xboy that nearly launched alongside the original Xbox, they were originally going for a 1-2 punch. They then decided to gain a foothold in the home market first, and then transfer that developerbase to the handheld market too. So they put the Xboy on hold for another generation.

I doubt it'll be this one. I'd imagine they'd focus on the consoles and realize that releasing your system when your competition does is vital for market share (which is why XBox2 will do MUCH better in sales). They'll hold off on any Xboy, IMO.

well u know me. give me a paper cut figures held by namco staff moving it around limbs with their hand, taped with camcorder... if the gameplay, the mindgame and psychology behind mp game is good, ill play it

Yeah especially when it becomes a point where you dont even think about it... I like it when i can wheeze thru first world in quake 1 with traps and typical enemy projectile timing completely memorized through just feeling... or play the first level blindfolded with just sound... at certain point, you can condition urself to play the way u memorized it....

mostly only applies to single player games, but it does happen in mp game or sports as well. when you spot a counterhit combo, you react and act according to the combo u have conditioned urself with, or in case with boxing...

sorry asher. im not as informed as u.

i also conced to the fact that if xbox did make portable it probably would be better, just seeing how xbox is... microsoft can afford to lose out and overload the portable with kickasss feature to kill competition and all...

I'm talking about the game makers' image, and like it or not, Nintendo has a kiddy, un-cool image.

'Un-cool' or not, Nintendo also has the reputation of making the best games of any platform maker: Zelda, Mario, Metroid are all super-high rated games and are considered some of the best ever. The last few Zelda games are considered the best ever by many publications.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

There's quite some infor at Neverwinter Vault about the sequel to NeverWinter Nights. Actually not a sequel, since Bioware is working entirely alone on it, and makes its own universe it can toy freely with

Graphics look good, NWN's concept is used again. Only drawback: we won't see any of it before 2 to 3 years.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

How much did Wind Waker sell compared to Halo or GTA3? The answer: not nearly as much.

The majority of gamers these days aren't interested in the Zelda or Mario games.

Well, those games are also JUST on the Gamecube, compared to the multi-platform of GTA3 and Halo. HOWEVER, if you compare sales last year, WindWaker sold MORE than GTA: VC.

I bet you if the Zelda series was offered for the X-Box and PS2, WindWaker would easily have been #1 last year.

I very very much doubt it. The vast majority of people who play Zelda end up spending $99 for a Gamecube...

And I don't know why you think Wind Waker sold more. Wind Waker sold 3M copies total, worldwide, by March 26, 2004: http://www.vgpro.com/news/4447

GTA3:VC, on PS2 alone, has sold over 11.5M: http://www.ps2home.co.uk/gta4-vice.htm

Not so. People with one console already won't pay for another one just for one game. But if that game was offered for their consoles, they'd buy it in a flash.

So it's supposed to be impressive that Zelda just barely beat a game in its 2nd year of availability...?

In Canada, in 2003, GTA3 was #1 with Zelda in #3: http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/TechNew.../352299-cp.html

And Canada's the country that had, by far, the highest N64 adoption rate in terms of market share.

quote:
Not so. People with one console already won't pay for another one just for one game. But if that game was offered for their consoles, they'd buy it in a flash.

Just what are you basing this on? I know TONS of gamers from high school (BF's friends), college (university...), and now in the professional world (IBM).

Nintendo's dumb-it-down keep-it-simple retro gaming is pissing off more people than impressing. The vast majority of people talk about Xbox and PS2 games, not Gamecube. Gamecube has a stigma about it that it's made for kids. IF you don't believe me, look at the best selling games by game-rating across all the consoles.

Gamecube's is G, and Xbox and PS2 are Mature/Teen.

Zelda simply isn't a mainstream game. It's a niche game with a questionable artistic approach, which is why it sells a fraction of the amounts that Halo and GTA3, and which is why you'll VERY rarely see somebody on a college campus raving about how he beat Super Mario Sunshine or Zelda, while you'll likely hear lots about how their Madden season is going, or a Halo tournament they were at, or how they unlocked all the cars in Project Gotham 2...
