This scenario was such a great one that I began tinkering around with it to add sound and fix the global warming problem. One thing led to another and I began changing stuff more and more. I've actually edited some of the text and stats without Eivind's formal permission. I originally was just planning to give it to my girlfriend to play with and didn't give much thought to copyright issues - its still the same map, units, terrain etc. Even so, at the end I think I did a decent job of it and it seems such a waste to let it just sit on 2 PCs.
So Eivind, if its alright with you, I'll upload the changes here for you (and whoever is interested?) to have a look at.

That's the only way I could find to do it but kobayashi or someone else may well have figured out another way.
If one is familiar with hex editing, it certainly seems to be the simplest and easiest.

The Norwegian Campaign updated! Download version 2 now.
Go to page 1 of this thread. The updated files can be downloaded in post #2
quote: THE NORWEGIAN CAMPAIGN v.2
- A scenario by Eivind André Evensen
The entire Norwegian campaign of 1940 is essentially a gambit by Hitler to secure supplies of high grade Swedish iron ore through Narvik, a port which remains ice free even in the winter season. At the same time, control of Norway will undermine the British naval blockade and provide air bases within range of the British Isles. However, at risk is the German fleet which is an essential element of the future operation Sealion, the invasion of Britain. If even half of the fleet is put out of action, there will be insufficient naval resources to support this endeavour - eventually leading to the demise of the Third Reich.
To this end, you must (as Germany) achieve the following to claim victory-
1. Control over 100 objective points before the game ends on day 62.
2. Do not allow Narvik to be recaptured or its port facilities will be destroyed.
3. Do not have more than 20 points of naval casualties.
(Capital Ships = 4, Light Cruisers = 2, Destroyers and torpedo boats = 1) |
Kobayashi made a version of this scenario for his own personal use with some changes. I have used some of these ideas and changes for the v.2. The scenario is now optimized for single play as the Germans. You'll definately meet some more resistance from the Allies.
* Sounds introduced. Ripped from various games and modified by me.
* Global warming problem has been fixed.
* Victory points introduced by Kobayashi.
* Many changes to unit values and stats.
* Germany can now build Flaks.
* JU-52s can only carry one unit.
* HMS Rodney has a heavier salvo, but are slower.
* Cost of all units raised. Planes and Ships radically raised.
* Kobayashi introduced rudimentary research.
* Event file edited by Kobayashi.
* Britain a seperate civ.
* Single engined aircraft have only one turn in the air.
* Some graphical changes here and there.
* Grids are now useable.
* Dozens of other changes I can't remember.
* More extensive readme
* War ships can transport units:
Transporters: 6 units
Battleships: 4 units
Heavy Cruisers: 3 units
Light Cruisers: 2 units
Destroyers: 1 unit
Thanks everyone for the valuable feedback you've given me. I'm eternally greatful. Hopefully these changes will make the scenario even more enjoyable.
Good luck, generals! Evil, evil Norway awaits her conquerer
