Aro! You're alive!

England is far more useful than the Maya. The Seafaring trait is VERY useful for exploring along the coastline and making quick early contact with other civs.

Actually Portugal (Seafaring, Expansionist) would be the best for early game and contacting as many civs as possible. It could utilize Scouts for interior exploration and Curraghs for shoreline exploration but no one has voted for them.
