My favorite is Expansionist. It's not the best (Ag), but it's more fun to play with for me.

Well since you said fav, I choose Industrial. I do not use it much, but it it saves me more work than the others.

I really like seafaring. The trait I normally try to always play with is industrious just because it's a great trait, but I really like the seafaring trait.

Hmm...

I like Expansionist for the same reason Aeson does, namely that it makes the early-game a lot more thought-intensive. I also really enjoy playing Religious: it's like putting on a pair of really comfy shoes just before a long long trek (I hope that metaphor makes sense).

Overall, however, I would have to go with Agricultural. Currently I'm not entirely happy with it because: 1) it's overplayed, 2) people reload to get good starts then complain it's too powerful (this should not bother me, but for some reason it does), and 3) it is a bit too powerful. Nonetheless, for me it remains the most interesting (i.e. game-altering) trait. It adds focus to the early-game.

I find Seafaring to be boring, because it's all about exploiting the AI in trades made possible by your quick Curragh. Starting with Alphabet means that you'll almost always go for the Philo gambit, yawn, although I suppose my problem here is not really with Seafaring per se. Industrious also bugs me because it screws up my early-game math. Maybe I should play it more.

Tough question, especially the way it's worded.

Favorite? To me, that means "most fun". Probably industrious, scientific, or expansionist.

Obviously though, if I'm playing a game that I absolutely HAVE to win, then it's agricultural.

Probably a toss up between militaristic, religious, and seafaring.

Preferrably 2 of those in a combo.

I hate anarchy nearly as much as I hate corruption (anarchy is obviously worse, but it's temporary, whereas corruption is ongoing), and I have always been a little nutty about keeping my citizens happy. Especially now that I have discovered the power of Communism in Conquests, I find the 1-turn anarchy very nice. Prior to that discovery, I'd make 1 switch: despotism -> republic. So at most I was saving what, 7 turns (that's still a big savings, though!). Now I could save 14.

Ag is the best but..... Anarchy drives me nuts in the 2nd half of the game. I also like the culture boost from those cheap early temples.

Scientific, because it had no votes and I'm crazy about cheap libs & uni's.

In my games I now make 2 govt switches - Republic once I've finished any early wonder I was building, and Democracy when the unit and worker count gets expensive and I'll soon need fast RR as I won't have any coal in my statically-bordered civ. On Monarch level losing another half-dozen turns isn't critical.

On higher levels Religious gets more important.

I find myself sticking with Republic because the support costs usually end being significantly lower for me.

In the game I was playing last night, I think I was paying 46gpt on unit upkeep as a republic, but I had over 100 units. So as a Democracy, I'd be paying quite a bit more, which I think would more than cancel out the slightly lower corruption level.

The faster workers thing is nice, yeah, but I haven't yet thought it worth the anarchy (even the 1 turn religious anarchy).

-Arrian

edit: clearly just a difference in playstyle - you aren't conquering other civs like I tend to do, which gives me more free unit support.

Put an end to popups!

I find myself looking forward to playing industrious civs these days and staying far away from agricultural. Scientific is also nice because of the cheap libraries and uni's.

I should really say religious, since I'm getting more into 2 government switches these days, but I'm trying to learn to live with 10-15 turns of anarchy per game I usually go into monarchy for a bit of blood and guts then move on to democracy - particularly when sing the AU mod which really kills republic for me. If I'm not using the mod I may go into republic for the whole game and be more careful about warfare.

My deal is random civ with random opponents on a Huge or Standard map with all climate variables at the middle value.

But that doesn't make "random" an answer to the question "what is your favourite attribute?".
