Ah yes that article. Glad you found it useful.
In the old days, broadband wasn't here yet and it was crucial to prevent duplication of the same wav files to reduce download size. Also came in pretty useful with the small limit the SDC contests always imposed.
Anyway, let you know it a while how my game goes.
Is there sound for this one? There appears to be only one zip in this thread.

No, I mean the unit called "Barbarian Hero"; you can recruit some of them when you discover one of their village (hint 1: look around the borders of the map; hint 2: a destroyed village might well be rebuilt... )
As mentioned in the readme: there are 3 good reasons to read all the civilopedia descriptions (units, techs, improvements, etc.):
1) they might contain useful informations (about the related units or about what a tech might trigger in the events)
2) they are supposed to give a lot of "Discworld flavour" to the scenario (hopefully )
3) it took me a hell of a time to write them all

As for balance issues- the only possible problem is that the Barbarian Sky Gods might be a bit too powerful- they just ran over 3 or 4 ramtopian cities, and when I cheated to see the whole map, I noticed that a lot of the cities were conquered on the Islands near Al-Khalili.

Yes, the Gods (and Dragons, etc...) are strong, especially against the AI, but a human player should be able to face them!
And about the Islands: they are only 2 (from memory) island cities there, are you sure you don't mean continental cities around there? If yes, that could well have been done by nasty mummies...

As a fan of the book though, I really enjoy the game!

Glad you like it, it took a LOT of sweat!
