Consul's Session Schedule Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Lets not have many 6 day polls. I understand the desire to allow everyone possible to vote, but it can really slow down the game, and we have had enough slow times already.

I will be playing the next session this weekend based on the best information available at the time. To that end, I would like a report/recommendation from each of the Ministers on what I should do in their respective areas by GMT noon Saturday.

The recommendations can be posted in this thread or emailed to me.

I am currently interpreting direction of Caravel exploration to be SE (averaged among votes) and it would be to establish new cities if possible.

I take it you are referring to the only poll posted, that of science (Which I posted shortly after you played your turns, and figured we could leave it open for as long as possible...). I am surprized you even mention the fact that it is six days, only three people have voted, even after four days, so it would seem we need longer polls, as people don't check in nearly as often.

Having said this, if the consul is ready to play and the poll has not yet closed......then by all means PLAY, the poll should be clear enough that you don't need it to close, nor do you need a report from me.

What I have noticed is the Consul posts a number of polls which are three days in length and people show up and post a message afterwards saying the poll closed before they could vote.

Perhaps the consul should be suggesting that more polls be posted, or that more people vote, or that more people participate in the process, rather then criticizing a minor point on the only poll he has.

Put an end to popups!

12 Hours later and I am still annoyed at this...I need to just let go!

But I have a solution! :hmmm? Perhaps it would help to speed up the game if I didn't post a poll at all, maybe just a thread with our options, anyone interested can post their opinions and our consul can infer from the posts what to research next? In this way there would be no "deadline" for playing and I wouldn't hold the game up any further.

Or I could just do as the Minister of Everything Else has done this week and not post at all? (sarcastic )

I assure the Right Honorable Minister of Science Sparrowhawk that no complaint or insult was intended.

I certainly appreciate your dependable work in posting polls and value them greatly.

The 3 day polling period has been standard for the several years of Democracy play, and there are seldom votes cast on even the 3rd day, so the 6 days was a bit of a surprise. I was not dissapproving of this specific poll, so much as hoping we will not need to have polls open for so long *too* often.

While we certainly want all the Citizens to have a chance to vote, I am equally concerned that the occassional delays we have had in this game have caused people to lose interest.

In recompense to my unintended slight to your reputation, I will name our 1st Caravel the "AS Sparrowhawk".

A thought on the poll...

Sparrowhawk initiated the poll, so I assume he voted in it. Zedd posted an opinion, so I assume he voted in it. I voted in it. There were only 3 voters.

MWIA often posts right after polls close that he *just* missed the voting time. But 6 days apparently wasn't enough either.

LOL!

6 days, 3 voters. Depressing. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.

I'm fairly sure I voted in it, so perhaps either Sparrowhawk or Zedd didn't.

Heh - you'd think my schedule was adjusting itself according to the poll length, wouldn't you?

Thanks to the many excellent polls, I have a good idea what to do in the next session. Summary reports from the Ministers would still be appreciated, though. A couple of them are not definate in the votes, so I want the judgement of the Minister.

I will be trying to play Friday evening Eastern US time (celebrating my 54 birthday).

Very indeed!! Happy Birthday!! I hope it was a good one. If I remember correctly (and that's questionable) 54 was a very good year. At this point, I prefer anything that's above ground to the alternative.

Cant believe I missed this!

Sorry cavebear, as Minister of Everything Else (except Science), I declare this coming Friday cavebear day... retroactively for the last thousand years. Thus setting up a custom that will confuse our descendants forever more, seeing as they will know when your REAL birthday is...

I should probably not say how old I am. :/

Happy belated birthday.

Got spare money?

I hereby declare my official Game#4 birthday to be 1 week later than IRL. That way, when an assassin comes to kill me on my "birthday", I can disconcert him by pointing out that he is in fact wrong, and he will slink away mortified in embarassment.

I am planning to play the next session either tonight or tomorrow evening. Tommorrow is more likely, since now that my parents have finished their 3-day visit, I plan to get good and drunk tonight.

I love them dearly, but they do restrain my normal lifestyle "a bit"

Considering the state our little enterprise is in, maybe you should get yourself "well fortified" and then play....

Enjoy!!

I guess I'll compile the results of MWIA's polls and play soon.
