Swissy does exist, and will occasionally post. Just a bit put out by getting two of the worse start areas I ever had in a civ game. My one civ will have a maximum of five cities without war, which is impossible as my closest neighbor can produce defenders two to three times as fast as I can produce attack units. My other civ is stuck on a rather small island. No freshwater, luxs and readily apparent jump points to another landmass. My tech progress is gonna suck as I can't grow a city beyond size 5 before construction without dipping into the gold to keep the people happy. This game shows how 80% water maps do not generate a good game experience.

swissy. well, you really did have bad luck in this game. of the 7 starting locations i've seen or know of, you have the worst two.

but i don't think 80% is to blame. it's just really miserable that despite starting a pangea map you still got a small island

Please refrain from offering the Ottomans any tech deals. They are already considered "backwards" by every civ they have met. There is no way they can respond back with tech, and the lack of rivers mean no real surplus of gold. Since everyone else has probably made contact between their civs they can co-ordinate tech, a necessity in this game I am denied. So, keep it to yourself, it is quite deprressing to get those offers and have nothing to respond with.

no, if you lose the capital, then it's not fair at all. i can live with the fact of your extended line of sight (as long as you don't missuse that advantage) but you giving us your capital wouldn't be fair at all for you!

i'd say, lets wait a few more turns and when your clones decisively disturb the game (because eg. the culture borders extend so much that other people can't place more cities, then we'll look at it again..

Think we have a slight bug in the diplomacy system. The last 4 contacts I've had, two each Arabia and Sumeria, have been without any offers. Now perhaps in the first of each I had just finished Cermonial Burial and that could have been the offer. But, the last two, one from each civ, I have not just finished a tech so it can't be a case of the tech being offered was just completed.

i doubt you can have offered CB as iirc both arabia and sumeria have it already. but i didn't really understand your post anyway, so sorry if i didn't get you...

when i start my turn, i always get an empty diplomacy board with the maya. :hmm:

Edit: i seem to be afected by that diplomacy screen bug too each time i start a turn it opens open the dip. screen with the Dutch

i get it with the maya. don't know what to do, but at least it doesn't affect gameplay.

i've seen an american water city, but havn't discovered the one in my bay... really wierd stuff going on here

Yes, I've seen similar goings on. And Sabre, the Maya haven't been offering you anything lately so it must be some sort of bug.
