Black pudding for breakfast? That sounds so ... English.

I see it more as a lunch type of food.

That was quite normal food in parts of Denmark, when I was "a nice little boy" some 40 years ago. It was made on the "farms" immidiate after the pigs was slaughtered (nasty sight and even more nasty to hear the pigs screems, when their through was cut....).

I like black pudding, in reasonable quantities. Best served with something sweet though, like warm apples. Something more neutral, like potatoes, also do the trick for me, but I really always need something to soften the (otherwise good) tase of black pudding.

But indeed, boudin aux pommes is my fave

I think its like what you call sour cream... but with a higher fat content... Not sure...

Its like it sounds - lumpy cream. Tastes like normal cream really.

I thought it went with scones? What we call sour cream over here certainly would not go with scones at all. Sour cream you put in tacos, fajitas, baked potatoes etc.

I assure you, Imran, from the heart of my bottom, they are all as genuine as lobscouse and spotted di-ck, head cheese and sweetbreads (which are neither truly sweet, nor bread), white leach and jellied eels.

Most of them I have tried.

Mock turtle soup is made when you don't have access to real turtles, Qilue- they aren't commonly found in the frigid zones of the North Sea or North Atlantic, so a calf's head would be used instead:

http://www.foodreference.com/html/fmockturtlesoup.html

It's cheaper too, by far. The French, if I recall, make a soup with terrapins....
