Job well done, Nuclear Master, I must say... Job well done. Way to go. In fact, I am one of those that Estoric advertised and brought over here, Thank you very much. I will not be leaving as he did...but, I must say... you just lost a valuable member. Trust me on that one. His innocent comments were spun to be something totally evil and hateful, which they were obviously not. let me say again, Job well done.

OK, why? I didn't read it as more abrasive, GF, I read it exactly as it was written.
I don't really care about NM. I like your idea. I feel that I would be missing out on something good, but I have no tolerance for this hypocrisy:
"Why are you trying to advertise a site while you are posting at Poly?'
You have a very limited grasp on the definition of advertising, NM.
"But MZO was an Apolyton Refugee site."- NM
So, it's ok if a Apolyton member, or former member does it? Doesn't that seem dicriminating, Nuclear Master? AM I NOT A MEMBER HERE, TOO?
"He is just lucky he didn't go to the OTF " -AM I?
You make me feel SO welcome here, bud. What a great way to encourage new members- I am so lucky that you have opened my eyes.
I mean, look at it like this=
quote: I have no idea what would be wrong with linking to other forums. The owners of Apolyton have stressed many times that the civ sites aren't in competition. | -Ghengis Farb
As usual seems pretty clear thinking there.
But, here's a bit more for you: I COULD EASILY BOMBARD YOU WITH AN AD IN EVERY SINGLE POST I MAKE BY PUTTING IT IN MY SIGNATURE BUT I DIDN'T BECAUSE I THOUGHT YOU WOULD PREFER A DISCRETE INVITATION OVER A CONSTANT BARRAGE EVERYWHERE.
And, to be honest, I am not trying to sell you a car, here, Nuclear Master. You have the option to NOT CLICK the link, I am not forcing you, and like everyone else who saw it you have the option to ignore it if you don't like it. And it is only there, you don't see it everywhere in my signature.
Ghengis, I did not withdraw from the F game because of the first comment by NM, it was the rest that threw me. Why do you even bother? Why go to such great lengths to get people who don't care and aren't interested when you know that there people elsewhere who are VERY interested and WILLING to give you whatever you need to run this. Including advertising rights. And all the custom perks. You bang you head against this rather often, yet you need not do so.
And, to be quite blunt about it. I don't like Apolyton for a lot reasons, and initially thought you were hosting it elsewhere, where i first posted interest. (I wont say where, ok ,NM, but you know where), I was a little disappointed that it would be here. Because quite honestly this site is one of the most SPAM filled (pop-ups, spyware, all kinds of crap gets attached here). SPAM, real unwanted advertising NM, not a simple and harmless invite.
I am still interested in your Feudal Game, how could I not be- to the extent that I was willing to PAY Apolyton to get rid of all the crap so that I could come here and ENJOY the browsing instead of having to wade through all the BS. And support the F game by doing so. And bring more and more interest HERE to you all, like, from over at other sites, yo. Where the air is clear and advertising is clearly defined.
But why would I, if NM and people with the same delicate sensibilities are only going to take the fun away?
So, here it is: If you want me come back, find me, and INVITE ME. Until I see a large and overwhelming reason to feel WELCOME at Apolyton, like if, for instance, a few of you are willing to get out of your little box here and actually come track me down and ask me to come and play with you like civilized children. That would be a precedent to set.
In which case you will have a dedicated and active player who is interested in the real product, FUN, and that we are offering and advertising - ENTERTAINMENT VALUE.
Do you understand that Nuclear Master? Can you see that the Civ Culture is a community of MANY sites, and that the more people share between sites the better every site becomes? The real effort is to provide FUN. The winner, the best site, is the one that is the most FUN. You are NO FUN.
And Apolyton is NO FUN because I can't even get the cookies to work because they are filled with SPYWARE and my system destroys them out of principle. All the other cookies for all the other sites work fine. This is the only site that I have a problem with and it is DUE TO APOLYTON's EXCESSIVE AND UNWELCOME AND AGRESSIVE ADVERTISING. Which is always off topic and always unwelcome. Compare it with what you call 'advertising' done by me and the impact that it REALLY had on your FUN, Nuclear Master, and tell me all about what I have done that is so wrong, and how you are such a great judge of it all.
So there it is.
SPAM to esotericdisillusion@hotmail.com. Or be daring, click the link and post me a note over at THAT SITE to show you (any of you) are open minded and willing to SHARE the Internet with other Civ Players too, that site, btw, isn't 'mine' or anything to do with my business, but merely one that is up and coming and has some people interested in Ghengis Farb's ideas.
Is that advertising too, NM, huh? Is It? Well?

Is mentioning a new Civ3 site that you might enjoy adding to your circuit of sites and of friends such a huge advertising campaign insult to Apolyton? Hmmm?
And to think, NM, I was going to JOIN apolyton, and even remove the ads... until I suddenly got the feeling that ya'll were a little too exclusive for my taste.
See you at the Civ Site Wars.
As to the 'why' NM, it is simple- I like all the Civ sites I have found and think that there is no reason that people should be exclusive and 'clicky' about it. What a crock. I have 'advertised', as you call it, for THIS site and THIS feudal dGame in other places and by so doing have helped to bring people to this list of interested parties. Perhaps you would prefer that I don't.
GF I am not coming to check up on this F game anymore. I don't like unfriendly Civ sites.
Good luck and Godspeed, remove my name. |
Unfriendly? Wherever did you get such an idea, Esoteric? I see no attacks, no insults, no unfriendliness. Unless you go to the Off Topic, that is.
I hope you enjoy the DG over there (looks kinda interesting as a civ site, actually now I've clicked on it), Eso, and when you want a little bit of something different, why not come back and see what's happening here? No-one has driven you away, and no-one wants to.
Hope to see you on the forums.

After that I am away Monday and Tuesday in Sydney, but then I'll be back and ready to carry on. I know I can trust UnO, Spiffor, GF and others to lead the discussions for that short time.
Sound OK? I will do this - hell, soon I guess! |
