	Heroes 4 groups Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

can anyone tell me, or link to someplace that tells me what the monster groups are in Heroes 4. They are different than in HOMM 1-3. For example, I think a group of 10 - 19 is no longer called a "pack", but a "band".

I thought it was in the manual, but I was mistaken.

No it has been abandoned. They never took up Homm4 and their old maps are on others sites now.

Astral Wizard's gone... as is H3trio.

If there is anything in particular you wanted from the sites, I might be able to provide. (I saved a lot of their sites data before they went offline )

Thanks vmxa, but I looked over that site without finding the info.

I can't seem to recall where I found the info in the first place. Maybe I was sneaking a look at a hint book....

This can be retrieved by making a map and placing a hero near a group of monsters numbering say 11, then numbering 21 and so on until you gat all the names for different groups of monsters.

OK, Good idea. Took some work, though....

for future reference, I think the groups are as follows:

1-5: Few
6-10: Several
11-20: Band
21-50: Dozens
51-100: Scores
101-250: Company
251-500: Hundreds
501-1000: Host
1001-2000: Legion
2001+ : Thousands

I kind of miss the old horde, throng, pack, and swarm, but I've thought for a long time we needed somthing better than "zounds". Host is a good replacement.

Really it is the same as Homm2, except they have a name for over 2000 units.

Some names have changed, but the values are the same. I agree, I never cared for zounds. I don't see any need for "thousands" as Legion was good enough.

Hundreds and Thousands sound idiotic

Zounds or Horde would sound much, much better.

I think they lost the 'feel' of the game by using those names.

I would think it is not a good idea to change something in a franchise, just to change it. It will not endear you to the fans. I would have dropped zounds and used something else, but the rest was fine.

Host is a good name...

However, Dozens, Hundreds and Thousands are pathetic.

Surely they can come up with better names?

How about patrols, clans, and to resurrect swarms?

I loved a swarm of Black Dragons.

A score is 20, so scores can be any multiple of 20. Here they mean up to 100. So no more than 5 score of a given unit.

I've never played HOMM 4.

It's one of the things I want to try once I'm working full time and my bill are all paid.

on a large HOMM3 map, I did something similar and ended up facing a Legion of Angels. I eventually discovered they would never get larger than 667 per stack and no more than 6 stacks, so it was possible to build up a force capable of taking them on.

If it hadn't been such a large map, I wouldn't have tried it, but I did manage.

I remember one Homm2 map that had a stack of about 99 black dragons, but a bunch of them joined me. I remember how scary it looked.

I also remember a map that had over 2000 titans and I used the clone spell to help me defeat them. I really enjoyed that battle and still vaguely recall after all these years.

I still play Homm2 and III once in a while. Both work inXP just fine.

I know I had some black dragons and probably lots Mino Kings and mayse Hydras. I don't know the number, but I was maxed in Diplomacy.

I seem to recall that I probably could have held my own, but glad to not have to do it.

I think a smaller stack of Black dragons had joined me before that encounter, but it has been many years.

I should start playing all the maps over to find it. I think it was a map not a campaign. It was part of the game, but I am not sure it it came with the Price of Loyalty or what.

I still remember where I found them.

There isn't a lot you can do because of their magic immunity, except get a huge number of some huge creature and use supporting magic. Also bring in a field marshal- type hero. Be prepared to have to whittle them down in severa; battles and keep at it!

Any other foe can be brought down with black dragons and an Armegeddon spell.

I looked through (quickly) the maps in my gold version and did not see anything that looked like it.

I read about a map called Heat that sould like it could be it, but it is not in my maps list.

BTW it looks like Portals Of Might and Magic has got a lot of the old Astral pages.

Now I am wondering what the map was called. At the time I played it, I was not on the net. I wonder if the map was not part of the gold version?

If anyone has the map called heat please attach it here, it shouldbe quite small.
