LOL, our fearless leader!!
Depending on the form of Government, the elected Leader (the person who actually plays the game) is called by the position of whatever form of government we are currently in (and as we are currently in a republic...our leader is "Consul").
I have nominated you for Consul, and beleive you would be more then able to handle the role (basing your playing on the reports of the Ministers, and the results of the polls), and playing until you get to a point where a decision which has not been polled on needs to be made. If however you are not quite ready for Consul yet, you could put your name up for any of the Ministerial positions (self nominations are not only allowed, but encouraged), any of which I am certain you could handle.
Further Note: In this game unlike previous games, when we switch Governments, we require a new election (and likely though not necessarily) a new leader (but this should not come up for a few techs at least).

Maybe blackclicking works differently on other (Mac) systems. I am running WinXP home.
To make this procedure work, for me, I right click on a black tile. The map co-ordinates are given plus a third number that represents the continent. In this scheme, water is #1, as is the main land mass.
In our case, right clicking in vectors away from the home island will result in 1's until land is reached. Different numbers represent different (non-contiguous) land masses.
In case you want to try this out....

I think it may be game version dependent as well as O/S dependent. In my version of 2.42 running on XP you can simply use the arrow keys to move the highlighted tile and thus get the continent number. In my version of MGE, you can't use the arrow key, but you can sometimes left-click and allways right click.
That is, in theory how you would do it on my machine. I don't ever really do it of course. To do so would be wicked and I would go straight to hell. It's just that sometimes my finger slips.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Forgive me father for I have sinned.

As a cleric I am tempted to say, "Go forth and sin no more;" but, I believe it more appropriate to say, "It is written, the Lord helps those who help themselves."
It is also commonly said, "Your mileage may vary." Which is to say, "One should never be (do) where one does not belong."
You be the (best) judge of that.

We are in danger of hijacking the nominations thread ... but,
I am most tempted to use this exploit when my trireme has found some new land and I can save a lot of time if I know whether or not this land is part of my home island / continent. What I need is a fine jesuitical argument that says it's OK to use the trick on land tiles you have already discovered.

It looks like Cavebear makes any changes to the cities and saves the game. MWIA then moves all the units and hits enter. He then saves the game and Cavebear takes over again. Repeat until June is over - good job it only has 30 days.
Who needs a consul when you have 2 good ministers.

A Minister posts polls and then reports the results to the Consul.
To post a poll, open a post and explain the purpose and issues briefly. Then before submitting the post, click on the "Yes, Post a Poll" box just above the "Submit" buttons. You will be sent to a poll construction place. Don't worry, it's not too complicated (though you will worry about it).
On the 3rd line, post the poll question. This will be the subject line of the thread. The 4th line is the number of options you want polled. You may want to look at any of our past polls to see the kinds of options to offer. I will mention that we always have a "banana" option. That is really for "none of the above" or "I just feel like being annoying". It's traditional and in some games, we have even had banana currency and banana State Seals and logos. Just think of it as an opt-out voter option.
When you have all the options you want for voting (and keep in mind that the object is to allow all POV's) make sure the number in line 4 equals all the options.
Line 6 "Options" allows multiple voting. If you have a poll that encourages just one choice (like what kind of unit to build in a city, leave that unchecked. If your poll is one that people can make several choices in, then check that box. A poll that allows only one choice will show circles in the poll options. A multiple choice poll will show squares.
Line 7 is important ansd often forgotten. It gives the length of polls in days. The default is 0, which actually means it stays open forever. You don't want that. # days is our standard poll length, so just type in "3".
At the very bottom of the poll screen are the options to "Submit New Poll" and "Preview Poll". PREVIEW THE POLL! LOL! You'll see how it looks and you can make changes there (add voting options, change poll length, etc).
I was scared to death the first poll I placed, and all of us have made ocassional mistakes with them. Not specifying poll days and not allowing multiple choice are the usual mistakes.
Feel free to post a test poll on something as practice. We'll understand. This is REALLY team play here, so don't worry about errors or not understanding something. Ask, and you will receive all the information the whole group has to offer.
If you have other questions, post them or PM me.
