City Number IV - we need a great name (poll 2) Got spare money?

so there were not enough Greek Gods....

here we go again then

this poll will only run 3 days

so be in fast

Indeed the time draws near for a new city to be founded

so come one, come all

lets look to this poll as the opportunity to use our votes to get the name we want

ok, you may not like the selection you have here. so come over to the City Name Thread. Here you can add to the names and lets us know some details on your choice

and who are they all???

Doughnutia: A mystical realm of Greek myth where all had doughnuts...

Thermopylae: after the most heroic ancient age defense on record. A few hundred Spartans held off thousands off Persians for long enough for a combined Greek army to escape unharmed.

Demeter: Goddess of the Harvest

Hephaistos: God of the Smith

Bacchus Marsh: For near Swamps, ie great places to drink the sacred home made grog (think of the Swamp in MASH)

Prometheus: The Rebel God

Winds: Children of the Dawn

Again, dependent on where we choose. Near a mountain and I go for Thermopylae, but anywhere else, Prometheus is just too cool to ignore.

Thermopylae would be good near a mountain

Hepahaistos we should save for the iron city

Demeter would be best near Flood Plains

Prometheus would work anywhere, really.

If we don't get the location sorted out in three days, I frankly think we should wait for it to be decided and then poll the name.

thank for your input here Kloreep

and i too agree with you

yet for reasons beyond my understanding the site has yet to be decided...

and time draws ever closer to the hour whena name will be required

so to beat the drums and call the lords and draw the swords and lay out the feast and then get blind rotten drunk is my way and thus here is the poll

heres hoping we can see better into the future and thus know more about what we are going to do

ahh lad, either way it is all good

Put an end to popups!

A pint for me too please.

For those who didn't know it, Prometheus means "He who things before he does."

He also had a brother, Epimetheus and his name meant "He who does before he thinks."

Prometheus, a Titan was punished by the gods for not obeying to their will. The reason for this was that in the days when the gods determined which share of the meat was supposed to be offered to them and which share the humans were allowed to eat. Prometheus thought of a trick to help the humans: he filled one bag with bones and laid fat and a few delicious pieces of meat on top. This bag was the fullest. The other bag he filled less, but with best pieces of meat, covered by the less good ones. With the Two bags he went to Zeus and let him choose. Zeus saw the full bag and the delicious meat on top and chose for it and Prometheus went back to the humans with the other bag. When Zeus discovered that Prometheus fooled him, he was enraged and decided to take away the fire from the humans as punishment, because without the fire they could not enjoy the taste of the delicious meat. Again Prometheus went to the top of the Olympos and took a glowing piece of wood down with him. Back under the humans he made fire of the glowing wood and the humans enjoyed the taste of the meat they had gotten by the trick. Now zeus was really engared: he took let Prometheus be chained on a rock and every day an eagle would eat away his liver, causing a horrible pain. Every night the liver would grow again to its normal size. So Prometheus had to pay for not obeying the will of the gods with eternal pain and suffering. His suffering was eventually ended by Herakles when the hero released the Titan from his punishment.
