	Catch 22 Inflate your Upload Space

First off, I want to say thank you to the members on this board. You guys are a treasure trove of knowledge and are willing to share the info.

I posted a thread on concerning a strange Planteray Governor glitch, which the members pointed out was probably due to a missing patch. Sure enough they were right, however after installing this patch, I get no sound in game. And yes I am using Windows XP

Strike that...I get sound from the opening logo and movie, but after they end and the title screen comes up, there is no sound.

Is there a script file where I could check sound values?

This is the reason why I nver installed the 4.0 patch to begin with, it seemed like it created new problems, but it is a necesarry evil as there are too many in game glitches with out it. I'm scouring these pages for an answer but haven't found anything yet. Any advice?

WOOT! I figured it out hells yes! I checked my AlphaCentauri.ini file and saw the following line:

EAX=1

My sound card is not a Sound Blaster and does not have EAX sound technology, so I just changed that true value of 1 to a 0. Saved the changed and started the game....to be met with fanfare and glorious symphony. Well, actually just bips and bleeps but after finally solving this dillema and having a stable verson of SMAC, I'd say victory was achieved today. Thanks to Obstructor, Petek, and Enigma Nova for the help on the other issues and inadvertently motivating me to figure out what the hell was going on

I don't even use sound anymore. I've long gotten tired of the Secret Project vids (I can watch them anytime anyway) and none of the other sounds appeal to me any more. I just use my playlist. I'm more worried about what's going on than the sound they make. I mean, the game doesn't exactly have a rich array of sounds to begin with. Well, the quotes are nice, but they get old after the millionth time. I actually kinda miss my first game where all the quotes and videos were new. ahh... (nostalga)
