Basically, this is a continuation of the election discussion thread. There are two things to do on this thread.
1. Discuss the proposed amendment.
2. Cast your vote.
Article II of the Basic Laws reads as thus
"II. Military Structure
IDF
Generals only command troops, no cities and no zion workers unless specially worked out with the Defense Minister. Cannot be in the Knesset."
I wish to allow knesset members to serve in the military so the proposed amendment is thus.
Amendment I:
"In regards to Article II of these Basic Laws, Members of the Knesset may now be appointed to serve in the military and command IDF forces."
I vote yes.
Reasons: Otherwise, we have people sit in the knesset, and if they are not invitied into the government, they do not have antyhing to do besides be in the "opposition."
Plus, we are short on competent generals.
If people wish to propose further amendments, they are free to do so, just propose them in their own thread.
I will close voting in a week, so this will end on the 10th of June. Until then, the One Israel still plans on allowing a knesset member to be in the IDF, since I do not wish to delay the game with this. If this is voted down, the knesset general will be relieved of his duties.

can we change that to "Members of the Knesset may now be appointed to serve in the military and command IDF forces only if there are no others willing to take positions"
Otherwise we'll have everyone in the Knesset taking a military command as well

the only thing I saw in the rules we voted on that dealt with changing anything, was on how to expand the knesset, which is done by a referendum.
Also, the last paragraph of the rules emphasizes that this is a democracy game, and that everyone should get involved.
So while this way doesn't have a specific rule approving this manner of changing the basic laws, it more closely fits in with our founding fathers' intentions.
