Nope, I was never banned. You must be thinking of The Call of Snapcase, a different poster entirely. Look, I registered in November, that was way after this "spamgate" thing you're reffering to.

It's just about impossible to get inadvertantly banned, if you view the cases. Everyone knows the sort of thing that will do it, but it takes some pretty severe provocation to actually get banned.

Has anyone actually been surprised by a ban?

Yes. I have no idea how the moderators figured out for certain that Richard Cranium was a double login. The name is suspicious, but you'd think that they'd disable it right away, not wait a month.

I had the extreme bad timing to start a thread on death at a time when a fellow poster had a sick spouse. Completely unrelated but in order to spare any hurt feelings I was deleted and censored. I'm still waiting to start my thread again but I guess I have to poll the membership first to ensure everyone is feeling ok.

My banning over the issue was not a surprise. I encouraged it.

Ah young one in the old days, before the coming of Ming before the dark times, there was an infestation of spammy DL news casters lead by Dan Rather (who was the famed UBB bug History049). In the thread that announced the banning of Dan Rather I posted a short innoculous post ("I don't see what this will accomplish" as Dan Rather(ten spaces) (you could do that then) and got banned for having a DL.

i definatly got the longest banning though.

. Not before each sentance, before each paragraph as the easiest method of indenting in this script, which would otherwise compress the space a the start of line if not preceded by a charactor.

. Horse, over at ACOL, did not say gone for good, only for now. Its possible Hydey has misinterpretted. I saw his posts as -I have enjoyed as much as I can stand for a liitle while-. His last post in thread at ACOL said "its no big deal" and "I'm just going to chill here a while".
