The Dominion of The Arch-Capitalist is a huge, economically powerful nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 205 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.
There is no government in the normal sense the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, pro-business individuals is mainly concerned with Commerce, although Defence and Law & Order are secondary priorities. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Gambling industries.
Protesters are up in arms over new nuclear power stations, pristine wilderness has been trashed in the quest for cheaper oil, much of The Arch-Capitalist's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence, and murderers frequently escape punishment by claiming they were protecting their honour. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. The Arch-Capitalist's national animal is the union boss, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the megabuck.
