I can't imagine HOW you use a corkscrew to open a champagne bottle. The leverage is against the top of the glass neck of the bottle - the rim, which is normally COVERED by the bulging head of a champage cork.

Go on, get a corscrew, any model, and a champage bottle and try the two together. Its a no no.

well even if it is bs, its a fun scenario

After a nights sleep on it i came to some more conclusions.

This kid could be on a slow slide to yobdom, after all he's an avid console player AND drinks alcohol. Not only that but he invites complete strangers into his parents home while they are away, with little regaurd for the consequence's.

If it was my kid, id be expecting a criminal record to follow shortly - drugs/guns the whole nine yards as its not a difficult slide once you start.

so i would propose another solution - the parents should keep the playstation, buy an eye toy for it and a relevent game that would allow them to induldge some sexy clothing and fantasy messing around, buy another bottle of Champagne and enjoy

They would get the money for all this by putting the kid up for sale on ebay(heck they may even get more if some sheik gets bidding!)

This is of course what i'd do if it was my kid showing such a lack of moral fibre - it might not be for others

One because the state forces you to take care of your kids (because kids cannot take care of themselves, even at 13) and in exchange you get the right to raise that kid, including having property rights over them.

Secondly because 13 year olds really aren't going to work, so submitting them to a civil lawsuit, where the system is not required to provide you with a lawyer, would really be messed up. The court would assess charges against the kid, and then what? Force him to get a job to pay it off? In that case can parents charge kids as old as 5 years old rent? And if they don't get rent kick the kids out? Can parents who don't want their newborn say, you haven't payed rent and leave their newborn in a dumpster to fend for themselves?

I wish you'd have some common sense when discussing this issue.

My parents never touched me, and I would never even consider doing anything close to what that kid did. Physical violence is not necessary in order to instill discipline in a child.

What Ludd said. In fact, the friends I have that were hit by their parents are more prone to doing illegal and reckless things than those that were not. Now, that's correlation and not causation, but you'd think that at eighteen or nineteen the discipline instilled by years and years of belting, bottle throwing, and knife-waving would have taken effect.

Actually, the friends I have that were not beat are pretty much like me. That is, they would never think of doing things like that. Now, this is anecdotal evidence, but I've got a pretty wide range of relationships to draw upon. My ex-girlfiend has scars that will never go away... yet she has no respect for her mother whatsoever. It did not instill discipline, merely taught her to hate her mother. And, eventually, to fight back. Me, on the other, well, I already said what I'm like. And I've got friends all along the spectrum.
