	the un Got spare money?

We are nearly at war. Yet we are nearly at the modern era. The UN is what, 1000 shields. Do we try for this, knowing that while it will protect us (we won't win the vote guaranteed) it will cost us 7-10 units? We might not even be around enough for it to come into play. And we can't prebuild once we go the mobilization route (as a peace with lego/vox would be unlikely). I could see a situation where nd or vox doesn't mobilize and can build it first...

I think Vox and ND will have no chance to get votes unless the war goes badly for Lego. Is Lego going to vote for them to win? The two with some chance for votes would seem to be GoW and Lego.

We could get RP and and ours. The only way I think a vote works is if a key player was losing and then may toss its vote and its proxy's to someone.

IOW if Lego was being whacked and the vote came up, it could toss it and Vox to ND to prevent us or GoW from winning.

I know I would never do this in a pbem game, don't really see the point.
If you've lost you surrender and congratulate the winner but to VOTE for him to win the game? Nah...

Still, I'd rather have the insurance. What's 10 units compared to ensuring that we won't be screwed over by a vote gone bad.

I'd rather save shields for SETI, if it's all the same to you. And even that is not really necessary: we will be in the middle of a war when we research the tech, so either we get a GL, or we build more units to get it.

besides, are we even going to discover the required tech for the UN? Not if we go for MA...

SETI in mind, let me modify my statement: Should an appropriate oppertunity present itself prior to SETI, we should go for the UN. Basically, if we feel that we can burn a GL on it, we should.
