Well, what do you want to know?
I think my stances of most issues of importance are well known - cooperation with PAL, our chosen allies, in a strong build-up toward war with CDG; organized deception of CDG, though without breaking any treaties we agree to formally; keeping to the tight city placement plans; and elections for the Ministers, while keeping them answerable to the consuls.
Feel free to ask me any questions, and to review my record as consul for the last three months. |
Oh boy, haven't you learned anything from the last consul election?

ssshhht! don't say that! Remove it. Quick, before anyone notices. Donegeal is supposed to say that. YOU have to convince the public here that all they need is a builder, just like YOU. Or at least a more balanced person than your opponent.
Having fulfilled all those offices doesn't tell anyone about the quality of your work. Perhaps you have been fired everywhere and perhaps you did so many jobs because after being fired somewhere, you started elsewhere, to be fired one month later. Show them that you deliver proper work.
You need to convince them that you are their HERO, the one they need to make an end to all the problems they have. Make them confident: you are their leader and they rely on you. You are the beacon in the storm and the shining light in the dark. You are the helping hand when nobody can help and you are their companion when they are alone.
Show them that you are not only strong of words, but also strong of mind. That you don't panic whenever something unforeseen happens. That you don't let you opinion be influenced by every day events. Show them that you have a VISION
And last but not least, be kind. Shake hands, smile, laugh, stroke their children and speak kind words.
Now, off you go! And don't forget: stay CALM. |

Campaign, eh?
Why should I be picked for Consul?
Well...
I am an active and pestering member of many DGs at Poly. In actual fact the whole point of it all is just to increase my PC, but that's not the point. The point is I am super-active, usually...

Moreover, not only have I been active a lot, I have also successfully leeched off the hard work and talents of others to further DGs, and take the credit as well.

MrWIA, next time you run the Civ2 DG you can play the turns yourself. This is the last time I play the game making all the hard decisions whilst you gallivant around posting nonsensical ideas and saying "I knew that! Don't mess with my mind!" when corrected by newbies. This is your last chance. |
Add to this the fact that I am almost always in chat in at least 2 or three iterations...

I should apologise for treating you so harshly and bluntly in diplomacy in the PtWDGII, but I won't. Why you ask? Because I really hate you to death. If you were getting married I would fly to NZ so I could kill your baaaa-lushing bride in front of you and you could get an inkling of the feeling I have for you. Ever since you left me to take over the SPDG alone waaay back in Term III of the first game....[Edited due to graphic content]

...and you have a terrific Consul.
So, I am always posting, always in chat and I can somehow make myself look like I'm doing a lot of the hard work needed. What more could you ask for from a Consul?
Vote ME for Consul!

You meddaling kids! Making me do this speech rubbish!
Ah well, if you don't know me, I'm Octavian the Tenth, running for re-election as Consul of Apolytonia.
I let my work speak for itself. Of course, most of my work was done by everyone else, so it doesn't differ that much from WIA's.
For one, I'm experienced. Looking back, I've done more with democracy games than I wish to admit is true (I have no life...). Most relevant to this game perhaps is what I've done in the PTWISDG as head, and ambassador of, the CFC team, and in the PTWDGII, where I'm still running the show for Team Monty Python. I can say easily that I know what I'm doing when I'm in charge (most of the time).
Second, I'm already a consul. These past three months, as one of the original consuls for this team, I've done everything I though was necessary. Whether that be playing the save, participating in random discussion, organizing and maintaining the chatrooms, spamming, or just sitting around while confused, I've done it.
Third, it's summertime for poor me, a high school student, and I have nothing to do. I think I've actually refreshed this thread about 15 times in the last three hours...
Point is, I have an insane amount of time on my hands, mostly during the wee hours of the day. Contrast that to when school was actually in session, when I still add an abnormal amount of time on my hands, but spent it doing various projects and essays at the absolute last moment.
Finally, I will concede that MWIA is a fine candidate. Apolyton will be in good hands, no matter what the outcome of this election is. May the best man win!
But you won't get rid of me! Even if I lose, it looks like I'll be CFC's next Minister of Foreign Affairs in the PTWISDG

Me? Lessee.... Togas is another old DG hand, and someone whom I have worked with for over two years, on and off. He has been my/our FAM several times, I have been a part-time diplomatic hack working ostensibly for him, he has been my beloved King (Roleplay team), a fellow Mercenary (MasterZenOnline DG) and we chat a lot on IRC.
Donegeal is another guy I know from the DGs, and I've known him since back when he had just a lower case d in his name. Yep, that's right. "I've known him since that d was knee-high to an upper-case L!" He's not often had positions in them, but has always been around to lend his warmongering views. Good times
Vice-Consul Kloreep has also been in many DGs, and although he has not as often held a position, thus I have not worked with him much, I have often chatted with him in IRC, and communicated back and forth in various DGs. He too is a fellow Mercenary from the same game as Togas, and I am currently his partner in a PBEM where we are pledged to work together against the other two teams.
I couldn't be much more secure working with these guys.

I'm the type of person who always likes to seek some sort of concensus before moving on. Therefore, a lot of what I have done with Togas, donegeal, and Kloreep (and con) has simply been discussing things out, confering, etc, etc, etc. For example, I'll generally wait some time before playing a save for another consul (in instances where I'm the only one present).
They may or may not agree, but I think I've worked well with all four. Unlike MWIA, I haven't worked with them prior to my involvement on this team, PTWISDG CFC-Apo relations excluded.

Well I congratulate you on a strong showing there, Octy, and you even managed to convince a few people to vote for you! I did blitz you in the end though. NEver mind!
However, I decided to be magnanimous in victory, and since I have clearly got the ego boost I wanted from being the most popular, I decided to let you have the victory anyway. So, I used my spellZ to remove some of the 231 votes for me and let you win by a fair margin.
Congratulations Mr Consul!
/seriousness mode on
Well done Octy! Best of luck for the next three months. Thank you for serving me my first election defeat in a Civ3 DG.
I can't say I'm not a little sad, but I am not worried by the result, as I was certainly beaten by someone whom I am comfortable the team being led by, and I have full confidence in you, as should everyone who voted in this poll.
Until next time.
