With only six knights, all it takes is a few ansars withinin range to foil this attack. All they need is 2 Ansars within 9 tiles and 2 muskets guarding the city to make this a 50/50 for units. much more resitance and our chances quickly go to 0.

Listen. THIS IS IT for us. This is our one and only chance to catch GWT offguard with an attack. After this attack if over, whatever we do is going to be a long, hard slog at best ... or a failed invasion at worst.
We need to do as much damage as possible in this attack. Destroying their FP is nice, until they rebuild it. Destroying a wonder is forever, as is destroying a major production center (or two or three, etc).
When we leave, we need to leave them in a state from which they cannot recover. Leave them in a state that allows us to surge ahead of them, for good.
But most importantly, we need to have the strength and confidence to TRY to make this attack a success. Right now, what I'm reading from Trip is that he's too afraid of failure to do anything other than an attack that is guaranteed to succeed. That's the sort of attitude that is going to make this attack one that we win the battle, but lose the war.
Calculated risks must be taken. Cowardice and hesitation have never been characteristics of a good general. The greatest battles in history all have elements of wise gambles with clever fakes, flanks, and surprises.
I'm not advocating doing a suicidal attack at a fortified position. What I'm saying is that we have the resources to carry off two attacks, we just need to arrange the timing of those attacks so that they're simultaneous or very near to it.

I concur 100%.
The downside to delay of course is that the longer we wait the more likely CGN is gone and the German forces redeploy.
But a delay in the Rhurport atack will also let us get the CFC landing more in synch with the Rhurport landing as well.
