Warning to Ming - a new liberticide italian law for the web. Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

ADVICE TO ALL

According to a new Italian High Court sentence, any foreign site that pubblished diffamations or false informations about any italian person, if it's busted out ( that means it must be signaled to competent court ), can be obscured - i.e. this link wiil never be accepted on italian Web - and their administrators can be sued for both "economical and moral" damage.

Just warning...

Since I'm not a legal expert, I have no clue how this could effect a site like Apolyton.

I'm moving this thread to the Apolyton section (from the OTF) so that MarkG and DanQ can see it also.

It will appear as closed in the OTF, but other people will still be able to see it.

I'm not a web expert, but i heard something about provider access - i think they are going to forbid acces to these sites from Italy via italian providers or something like that... but i'm very confused about that. Just heard a few minutes ago on TV.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

How could an Italian court sue the Greek and American operators of a website?

Personally, if I received an Italian summons my response would probably be along the lines of "Come and get me, big boy". I imagine that extradition would be an outside possibility, to say the least.

Or as John Cleese might say -

Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

While you're here, Prometeus - in my four weeks in Italy, I struggled to find an internet cafe in any of the larger central and northern towns and, indeed, northern cities. Are they not yet a feature in Italy?

Hmmmmmmmmmm!
That seems to be a bit drastic

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Lazarus, Italian providers are going to pay; then to get back their money from foreign providers is their duty. As usual, Italian government is not going to pay a single lira... Italiani, armiamoci e partite

Mark, this is not the problem... the condemned site will be simply disconnected from italian web - just to start. More when sentence's motivation will be published on State's Official Gazette.

Finbar, Rome is full of Internet cafes, expecially around Termini Railroad Station and Colosseum... at least seven or eight only this year. For other areas, i don't know...

Narck, the entire affair is related to a divorce - and that husband was an orthodoxe Israeli citizen that kidnapped his own daughters from Italy. When their mother got them back to Italy, he started a very insultive campaign on several BBS and websites. Mother got enraged et voilą...
PS Honour and reputation counts a lot in italian jurisprundence - and not only commercial one: for example, a punch is punished a lot more, less then a slap...
But I think this was a real "close-to-the-border" affair - after all, a divorce is a messy affair... I'm waiting for this sentence publication for more infos about the whole thing...
