Got spare money?

By the way, what is the worst thing that happens to a child who has to listen to the pledge that he/she does not participate in anyway?

Ok, I'm beginning to understand how some people who used to be liberal, eventually became conservative later in life because of all this fluffed up political correctness nonsense.

I'm just hoping I'm resilient enough to take the good stuff from liberalism, and hold onto those for the rest of my life.

Your kind of on the money. When in school and immediately thereafter I was much more leftish than I am now. Years of bullsh1t have taught me the error of my earlier naivete.

No, what I'm saying is that we need to round up all atheists into ghettos, then have them wear some kind of badge on their shirts.

MrFunisms aside, I'm just trying to figure out how you go about determining when somebody should try to change the system if they don't like it, and when somebody should stop whining and just take their lumps instead. I mean, obviously there are a fair number of people (and, IIRC, you're one of them) who have decided that attempting to legalize gay marriage in the US is a worthwhile cause despite the fact that gays trying to get married here could just movie to Canada and get married there instead. And yet you say that Newdow should have just kept his trap shut because he's "whiny." Is there something you're not telling us here? Or have you just given up on trying to be consistent?

If you can show me how a person's rights are being violated by hearing something that he/she does not want to hear, then I will definitely take this issue more seriously.

So why don't the whiners petition their congressperson to introduce or support legislation that changes the pledge? Because they know dam well that the majority agrees with it as-is, and most of those who wouldn't say they agree with it are apathetic. "No harm, no foul."

The Left is accustomed to using the courts to accomplish things that they couldn't do in the full light of day, and this is no different. It is a relief when the courts won't play that game.

I bet a lot of liberals want to take off the religious crap of stuff, but they win't risk it after Walter Mondale's specacular performance in 1984.

You know given what was said even in the minority opinion, and that thy delivered the decision on Flag Day (for goshsakes), I suspect that future decisions on this won't go your way for a long time.

So if it supports your beliefs, it doesn't matter whether or not it is a violation of the Constitution?

The state has no place affirming the existence of a diety.

As for telling people to just go to another school, unless you live in a big city, that requires moving or other unreasonable expenses. People should not have to be forced to withdraw from public activities in order to have their rights not violated by the state.
